seen@sdcc2008: umbrella academy prototypes
Spotted @ SDCC [via Steve Talkowski's flickr] were prototype PVC figures of Dark Horse's UMBRELLA ACADEMY (height undetermined) - with characters created for a 6-issue limited-series comicbook written by Gerard Way (of My Chemical Romance) with interior art by Gabriel Bá and covers by James Jean - currently collected into a trade paperback "Apocalypse Suite" (the series returns in November featuring a variant cover by Jim Lee) - meanwhile, would be nice if White Violin, Spaceboy, The Kraken, The Rumour, The Seance and The Boy and the rest of the team were made into full-fledged articulated action figures tho, IMHO - CLICK THRU for more.

"The Umbrella Academy is a comic book limited series written by Gerard Way of the rock band My Chemical Romance. The comic features illustrations by Gabriel Bá, cover art by James Jean, colours by Dave Stewart and letters by Blambot's Nate Piekos. The six-issue limited series[5] is released by Dark Horse Comics, the first issue making its premiere on September 19, 2007.[1] (See: 2007 in comics) Rumors have it that it is now becoming a feature film only to be released in the US in early 2009. It won the 2008 Eisner Award for Best Finite Series/Limited Series." [wiki]

"The members of the Umbrella Academy, a disbanded group of superheroes, reunite after the death of their adoptive father, "Sir Reginald Hargreeves". Hargreeves, an alien disguised as a famous entrepreneur, collected the members of the Umbrella Academy shortly after their birth and trained them to save the world from an unspecified threat. After his death, the members carry on his plan to save the world." [wiki]
