Judge Dredd Movie Concept Art by JOCK

Peep comicbook artist JOCK's (aka Mark Simpson) concept art for a new JUDGE DREDD movie by UK-based DNA Films [via / producers of ”28 Weeks Later” and “Sunshine”] - with more drawings on io9.com [pics via] and also check out Jock's own gallery (he's done his fair share of 2000 A.D.).

Too early to say if it'll rawk or get cocked, methinks. This render doesn't tell much, as sweet as it may look. Perhaps a full-on CG animated movie would be better, innit? But I KNOW the 1/6-toys'll have to be made by Hot Toys, yeh?

[Fan-compilation of ABC Warrior robot scenes / I jizzed my young-adult pants then I did]

Hey, I sorta enjoyed the '95 Stallone-version tho = sweet production design, awesome vehicular designs all around, and even an ABC Warrior to boot (which is the closest I'll ever get to the Hammerstein from 2000 A.D. innit?) ... and that's about it really ... and I don't think anyone could've done it any better at that time, innit? IMHO of coz.

  1. well, i think there must be a conspiracy or an invisible sublayer of ideas, as i just felt like watching this movie last week...strange coincidence

i kinda like it, but having watched it again, the "i knew you`d say that" gets REALLY annoying

  2. What was unfortunate, was to see another movie that obviously shackled it's writers to create another template stylised piece of Hollywood crap, specifically catering to the mass unimaginative targeted audience, of whom no doubt have ever heard of or read any of the classic hard hitting 2000ad comics. Perhaps if it had some grit, like say 'Generation Kill' or 'oz' or something like that (maybe even follow the comic itself ?) then maybe the movie would have rocked. Be that as it may, as usual, the people who really put their elbow into making the movie palpable where the concept artists, prop builders, special effects dudes, music crew etc, they created something quiet memorable.
