Terminator: Salvation Design Drawings and Toys
[Above L-R: Conceptual Terminator designs / Playmates Toys Terminator / Medicom Toy's T-RIP 400% BE@RBRICK] Initially I'd wanted to have separate posts for the toys and the concept drawings / designs - but somehow figured it would be "interesting" to see how well movie-concepts transition into toys ~ (or not :p) ~ CLICK THRU for pics galore :)
WIRED exclusively reveals a host of conceptual designs and drawings for the Terminator: Salvation movie, along with an interview with director McG. Shown above is the Size / Scale Comparisons amongst the various Terminator-models (aka loads of toys to base from! LOL). Check out WIRED for more rendered-pics.
Shown here is a collection of Terminator action figures (in various scales) to come from Playmates Toys - last seen all bunched-up together, and revealed individually on Toy News International [all pics via] ~ and unfortunately does not look better than before, IMHO.
"... the initial film window launch will include a full assortment of fully-articulated action figures (multiple scales) featuring new, never-seen-before Terminators; battle-ready replica vehicles; and signature role play items: the Terminator T-600 Voice ‘n' Vision Skull with authentic red light-up eyes, voice changer/sound effects and the Terminator Deluxe T-600 Fist that vibrates, fires and emits sounds. In the Fall, kids and collectors can build their world and collections out with the Skynet playset: assortments of six new figures in basic (3¾") and deluxe scales (6"); several new signature vehicles including remote control and skin peeling Terminators in super size (10"); and much more." Here's hoping Hot Toys will rip a solid one into the 12-inch / 1:6-scale category, yeh? heh
And from a totally different genre of toys sees Medicom Toy adapt the characters into cutesy forms, straddling the mass market and boutique-vinyl-culture with their KUBRICKS and BE@RBRICKS. And while a BE@RBRICK-form may not appeal to everyone, the treatment of the above 400% (28cm tall) T-RIP BE@RBRICK in a sweet-chrome-like sheen is pretty darn cool, IMHO. I'd gladly plonk down 7,140YEN (US$xx / SGD$xx) for this piece of movie-merch ... if I could afford it, that is (:p) ... Check it out here for a June-2009 drop. Meanwhile there's still the 100% JOHN CONNER KUBRICK & T-600 BE@RBRICK (show below-right) with a SRP of ¥3,129 per 2-pack (US$34 / SGD$50) if that floats your boat, yeh? [blogged].
In some weird-bizzaro way, somehow I wish there were actual Terminator-TOY-Making factories, as I;d imagine they'd do a fabulous-job of making toys of themselves, yeh? Or a the very least there might still be a chance for a Moto-Terminator to me made, innit? heh.
