BACKSTORY: The concept for Kidrobot 17: Sgt. Robot was brought about by Dave White’s love for playing with toy soldiers and making models as a kid. Dave hated how his models came painted in pristine condition, so he would rough them up with scratches, dints, mud, rust and bullet holes to make them look as though they’d emerged from the trenches.
ARTIST: Dave White’s paintings have been featured alongside David Hockney and Picasso and are currently in the private collections of some of the biggest corporations in the world. In 2002, he famously painted a series of sneakers in a pop art style.
