Event Images for Michael Lau 10th Anniversary @ Times Square in Hong Kong (circa December 2010)
David Cornelius Tan of Indonesian film-review website Filmoo was down in Hong Kong last Chrtistmas - specifically at Time Square, where the "Godfather of Urban Vinyl" Michael Lau put on the HK-leg of his 10th Anniversary Tour, showcasing his 1/6 Gardeners, Gardener vinyl figures (with unfortunately we do not have), sketches and paintings, as well as large-scaled mascot-sculpts (will they ever become blind box figures? LOL). CLICK THRU for select peeps!
FYI: This event also saw the (pre)order of Michael's 12" Crazy Michael" figures, in both White and Black.
Giant-sized mascot sculpts of Michael's characters, looking somewhat "baby-rized", and perhaps less of the "urban style" of earlier releases. An evolution of artistic expressions, perhaps? Does it matter to you? Do you, as a ML-fan, mind?
1/6th-scaled GARDENERS. Yes, who wouldn't want o own them ALL? LOL
Personally, I enjoy the sketches and comicstrip art, the most - as they signify the earliest incarnation of published ML-work, and hope to one day be able to own the complete comic-set to his drawings for Hong Kong's EAST Touch magazine!
Large-scaled canvas "paintings", last seen in Michael's 10th Anniversary U.S.-Tour. Not shown here are the urn vinyls from ML thru the years. Regardless of hits and misses (and yes there have been, IMHO), there sure were a whole lotto work for the past then years, isn't it?
(Cheers to David for the Permission To Use The Pics)
