To RSS Or Not To RSS?

Amidst my quasi-non daily weblogging of toy occurrences and happenings, for the past few years, it had always been a mindful to enable Full RSS feeds to my blog.

For those not in the know, RSS means "Really Simple Syndication", which essentially allows others to access your blog-content, without actually logging unto your blog - which can be a bitch if you're counting blog-hits, but somehow the rest of the world who actually access RSS, do not really care for. They are uber-numbers of RSS feeds for an even uber-number of websites in their syndicated daily feeds to read, no one much cares for your missing site.

The one and only predominant reason why I have neglected to offer full RSS, is because it would enable people to access and lift content from your website, without any hassles. And while people actually do take the effort to rip you off your handwork so that they can profit from it (think "ads") - the faint feeling of making it "harder" for them to do so, is strangely more satisfying than being ripped off with no credit or a thanks (Yes, thy mind works in mysterious and often pathetic small-minded ways). There are basically two-folds to this cyber-malady.

One. Folks who run similar website content to yours, who can now serendipitously lift off your hard work. And to the masses, they do not really care if it happens. They just want to get their fix, and not need to care where it comes from. Do not ask for names to be named, if you do not see the event happening before your eyes, then you are blind to it as well.

Two. Non-affliliated "pirate" sites who utilize your RSS feeds to fill up their own websites, who earns money based on utilizing your content, on their websites. Now this is as wrong as it gets (although not as "wrong" as being ripped off from folks that you actually "know"), but somehow easier as folks tend to recognize these as actual pilfer-sites (I hope!). You should be cyber-slapped if you do not, I insist. Yes, there is a name for such sites, but they escape me now.

And while the stem of time and resource had but played a crucial part in this situation, it has become increasingly necessary to let folks know the TOYSREVIL-blog is back in the "game" (so to speak), in whatever capacity I am able to afford it to be, for the time being.

So for the month of February, the RSS Feed for this blog will be in Full, regardless the outcome. As for how long it stays that way, it all depends on feedback, and unfortunately my struggling state of mind in these matters.

So remember to RSS me @ feed://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/toysrevil ~And Happy Reading! :)
