Toy-Review: Action Portable Bambaboss DIY from 3A Toys
3A Toys' Action Portable BAMBABOSS DIY arrived today, and these are some unboxing snaps and personal commentary (which has also been posted in my Facebook album as well).
Each figurine was blister-carded and housed in a pizza-box-styled carton packaging, and it is a huge box indeed! (would've preferred a lesser-cost bag-with-header-card tho, but that's just me…) I remember back in the day when i actively collected 1/6th, boxes like this would've been perfect for loose parts and accessories! lol
Of course I ripped into one blister-tray to see what the figure entailed.
The figurine features articulation for both wrist/arms and ankle/legs. An exact duplicate of the larger Bambaboss figure - this is the only form that bridges art toys and the realms of 3A Toys with their articulated robots and humanoid-forms in 1/6th and 1/12th-scale.
The body material is hard but with given force, is "squishible" but no doubt customizers will have their hands full sawing into this piece! A also tried tugging it at the articulation points, but does not seem to be able to come apart. Does not bode that well for literally DIY ala Art Toys, no? If anyone has attempted and succeeded to pry the parts open, please let us know!
The smoke-stack is a separate element to the body (as is the 1/6th-scaled version). I had removed the smokestack attachment after taking a few snaps, to find the paintwork for the stem of the stack being peeled away slightly, to reveal the clearish-plastic beneath.
No hassle, but customizers do beware if the paint-work can be scrapped off, or of you need yet another layer of primer on this fig.
TOY-STORY: As previously blogged - each single Bambaboss was priced at U$25, while sets of 5 packs was US$105 and 10-packs was US$200. All prices exclude shipping costs, and my 5-pack cost US$25 additionalc shipping, FYI.
Looks I might be considering some custom-commissions from folks tho hhhmmm ;p
