There's this disturbing accusation... "Failed Project"? Or "Scam"?

"Today we look at what was obviously a scam from the beginning. If you raise $237k on a goal of $50k and then run out of money but blame tariffs, despite not producing anything or showing anything, then people are going to label you a thief. Let's look at the evidence and come up with our own opinion on this public figure," ~ Shared Mark Mager of Action Figure Atorium, who has made a YouTube video for this situation:

The Kickstarter campaign in question is "The Worlds of Huck Gee: Skullhead, Gold Life & Beyond", which I had previously featured on TOYSREVIL, but had not financially backed, so I have no direct experience in the game, besides having featured his toy-art & art on the blog for years, and having briefly met him in person when he was in Singapore for STGCC in 2015 (where his SkullHead Blank was reported stolen at the event).

According to the Kickstarter, the final pledged amount of this what would be and have been deemed as a "successful campaign" was "US$237,971" (campaign goal was US$50K), with "795 backers" recorded. The campaign ended "September 27, 2024", with the "last update" to the Kickstarter page dated "November 1, 2025".

I was made aware of this video last week, as well DMs alerting me, and decided to contact/email Huck Gee himself a couple of days ago for a comment/response, his reply reproduced here:

"I appreciate you reaching out directly. You’ve always been solid, thanks. I needed a minute to get my head together.

This is an awful situation, and honestly I’m still trying to get my feet under me. I already made my final public statement on Kickstarter. I was honest, transparent, and I apologized publicly.

What’s been especially hard is seeing a lot of misinformation and speculation spreading that doesn’t actually reflect what I’ve already said or what happened. The internet is doing what it does.

I understand you have to make your own call editorially. I just wanted to be clear in how I responded. I don’t have anything new to add, I’ve already said it all.

Thanks for reaching out first. I appreciate it.

I have decided to reproduce Huck's final Kickstarter-comment/post (which you can go read and comment directly here) as screengrabs here:

In the current era of the wwwildwest, "silence" is viewed as "an admission of guilt", and when a response is given, folks will judge for themselves where it be truth or fact. The decision is yours to make, your opinion(s) valid, whomever's point-of-view or perception may be.

FYI: I had disabled "comments" on this blog for years, but you can share your opinions on Facebook or Instagram, if you so please, cheers.

With the view of "public interest" and in the decision to amplify the video and situation with this blogpost, I had attempted to present all that I could easily find online, without going further in-depth into what I know nothing else about, nor intimately connected with... Alas it was not exactly the way I wanted to start "2026" of with on the blog (which TOYSREVIL is not known for) ... but if I were a "backer" of KS-campaign in the first place? I can understand the frustration and disappointment.

To everyone who had been directly affected by this: I hope everyone involved/affected can achieve a satisfactory resolution to this situation..
This blogpost offers no "solution" (there are far more knowledgeable and experienced folks able to do so), but is meant to showcase the current situation happening amidst our inter-connected global toy-world.

Since the Kickstarter ended, Huck had publically released "The Long Year" series of prints (Oct 2025), and have published and currently launched a "autobiography"(ish) book titled "F*cked Up, Funny, Humiliating, Beautiful, Chaotic" (available on Amazon as well signed, numbered, doodled First Edition hardback available directly from him here).

Amazon fulfilment statement: "These are printed using modern print-on-demand services, which lets me release the book without upfront print runs while still maintaining high quality."
