> desire

desires are basically "wants" rather than "needs".

i desire/want fame and fortune.
i desire/want that *swinetrekplayset*
i desire/want a new mobilephone.
i desire/want to be respected for my work and craft.
i desire/want to be desired by others.
i desire/want a good fcuk.

but do we really need fame and fortune? toys? a new phone? respect? to be wanted and desired? or anything for that matter? material things or metaphysical wants? ... well, maybe a good fornication is always desired/wanted/needed hahahaha tho i'll not expound the virtues and merits of carnalescapades here .... not for now anyways. heh :p

"desire" is such a strongword, i think... much like "hate", an extreme of both hanging on our lips with nary a thought to any consequence and/or reaction, from fellow human beings. but we use it still, mayhap in our everyday lives ... and tho words are "just words", they are strong words indeed, for both yourself and for whom (or "it") you may use it on.

tho they can also be non-selfishwords; like:

i desire/want world peace.
i desire/want to help the suffering.
i desire/want to pamper my partner.
i desire/want to take care of my parents.

whereas words like "need" might sometimes be a borderline-virtue, like:

i need to stop smoking so much.
i need to earn money to survive.
i need to bury my ego and pride.

then is the word "need" a selfish-word? seems that way tho, innit? and of coz im generalizing it all ... or mayhap while in the search for any and/or all, we tend to overlook the obvious, where "having" it (whatever the "it" may be) might not be all itz crackedup to be?

tho in the final analysis; to "have" is enough?

i have my arms and legs and brains.
i have my respect for myself.
i have my love.

for in the end, do you really get/receive what you desire?

i need to sleep. 'nuff said. :p
