hustlin' a horse
just found: Kung-Fu Hustle was named Best Picture and Stephen Chow as Best Director in the recent 42nd Golden Horse Awards!
*kewl*
not that it had impacted me in my adult-life or anything like that, but i haveta say enjoyed it immensely then, and this win put a smile on my weary-deadline-trampled-face :)
Kung Fu Hustle also won in the following catergories:
Best Visual Effects (rightly so, i reckon)
Best Supporting Actress (whoo-hoo!)
Best Make Up and Costume Design (niiiice)
gone were the days of his nonsensical antics (i liked them leh!) and some would describe as "low brow humour" (farnie so laff lor, right? :p) and i reckon things were starting to brew even when Shaolin Soccer came out then ... and how things have changed and matured and by now no doubt has made his mark in the celluloid world, while still maintaining the basic nonsense we all know and lurve about "Sing-Ye" ... do yourselves a favour if you have not watched it ~ you might be "surprised" by what Stephen has to offer this time round *nyuknyuk* :p
extra B/S:
have gotta say, am enjoying the trading cards that are available to download here = quite farnie! altho tis more of the "idea" and memories of it (i used to be a mondo-heavy trading cards collector! - more next, entry next time) :p
*dunno why but i hear a technoparapara track somehow when i look at them there cards*
tho i'd be in line to buy them kungfu-manuscripts if they were ever to be released lor!
*aiyah, im after all still a sucker for retro-schitck, west or east *heh*
