nature of the job

:: LIFE IN SINGAPORE / WORK ::
situation: director requests for a shelf in one of the main lead's bedroom, filled with comics (chinese ones, mind). motivated prop. >request accepted.

solution: due to budgetary "constraints", i decided on a $35-shelf from IKEA. but i could not accept the original color (birch finish). i decided to spray-paint the shelf; black. to match the existing location's black-colored partition. (note: location recced in january)

2am thursday morning:
SPRAYED01 < after a full-day shoot, i sprayed the shelf in Flat Black, in the middle of my flat's lift-lobby. under-estimated amount of spray needed. last spurts of paint filled only the two-sides-of-shelf.

3am friday morning:
SPRAYED02 < (again) after a full-day shoot, i finished off another coupla spraycans on the shelves. tired as heck, but all good. setting planned for in another 8-hours' time.

to note: it is actually darn effin' boring waiting for paint to dry. also tired as heck.

12noon friday afternoon:
SPRAYED03 < shelf assembled on set. waiting for the rest of the comics to arrive to fill-up the space.

round-up:
realized on day of setting = a new partition had been erected (a horizontal wood-grained-surface design). in the prior recces, it was a half-height BLACK partition that stood. hence my decision to spray-paint the IKEA-shelf - black. with the NEW partition, i could've left the original finish of the shelve intact and gotten me a few more hours of well-deserved sleep.

most would say: *tis the nature of the job*

i say: *bugger-this* :p
