pinky street
:: TOYS ::
Pinky Street (or Pinky:st) are pint-sized (3") vinyl-figures with fully interchangeable clothes, hair, shoes etc (*fashionable japanese wear*, no less) and are compatible with each different figure that are released. sorta reminds me loads of ye paper-dollies with cut-out clothes (yes, i did have a small collection in myunformative pre-pubescent years *bleh*) ... Pinky:st were developed and made by Japanese companies VANCE and BABY sue.
this little girl (and "friends") have garnered quite a huge following in the east, so much so that there are even webbies offering "loose parts" for sale! there's even an online community; with a forum and photo-galleries galore ... and they too are being "customized" by varied folks as well! here's a few images culled from the mr.hobby webbie:
im (strangely) quite fascinated with this vinyl-figure and simple-concept. "interchangeability" is something that doesn't seem that "encouraged" (less money to be made upfront?) and here we have a figure-range that offers quite a bit of latitude and options, dun it? IMHO, of coz ... and anyways, ya know when a toy hits a certain level of "success", when bootleg-copies surface ... and truth be told; i had actually snagged a couple of them (i didn't know, i schwear! :p) @ the local chinese comics-shops ... and had since been "targeted" for some custom-paintwork ... just haveta get off me arse first, innit?
*kawaii-des-neeeeeh*
