:: LIFE IN SINGAPORE ::
an early sunday morning it was, when the family set out for Tomb Sweeping Day (Qing Ming Jie). from Mandai to Bishan, we visited and paid our yearly respects to both Grandpa and Grandma (dad's and mum's; respectively)
the day's journey is told in pictures and words @ my multiply album here
after-thoughts:
the heat and humidity of a day and air filled with burnt ashes and silent whispers of the living and dead, were quelled and lightened by the laughter of the Heng family, when we sat down for a late lunch ... altho the laughter echoed hollow when the discussion led to the fact that all these "chinese traditions" had been slowly "diluted" thru the years ("modernized" is an "easier word" for some to swallow and accept, IMHO) and the thought of my own "generation" being totallyignorant inept in the ways of traditions and "procedures" ~ silences and humbles me deeply ~ for i worry about "the future" and of my own parents ("mortailty" is a biatch, innit?) ... and i reckon the only thing we can do, is to learn and (try to) experience life (and whatever we have) now and live it to the fullest and enjoy it while it lasts ... for we deserve it, don't we? :)
