why blog? rationale for a year of weblogging explored

what is it about blogging? or rather this blog?

first i poured my mindbile forth unto the cyberhighway, like so much random roadkill (fascinating to see, while wholey grotesque to others), then i tried to use it as a platform to whore my images (not a whole hecka response, as compared to flickr ;p) and now filled with information about toys, movies, comics and whatnot. the key word being: "information"

so im thinking: am i trying to be an online news-desk? or a information counter at the giant shoppingmall of cyber-information? ~ truth be told, there's only so much a single man (gainfully unemployed currently, mind) can achieve, with time and a pathetic knowledge of html! hahahaha still am trying to figure out how to do short-posts that links to the larger entry, in the same blog (unfortunate for folks who don't want to read alla these drivel muahahaha) ... and a "next page" function! hahahaha (dammit, really)

i mean, first thing i do when im awake/in front of the Mac is to check my email for any yummy info+images emailed my way (gone were the days of checking my blog-statistics first hahahaha), so that i could offer it up to the masses on my blog, followed by a round of online research and authentication of information (as far as i can go), some tweaking or producing support image graphics and then to work out how to post them (in terms of "layout") with simplistic html-skills? hahahaha hampered by the boundaries of the blog template, i can only but offer up simple, fuss-free and accessible nuggets for all and sundry ... and a quarter of a day is gone ...

and i was thinking just: what drives me to this extreme? boredom? (mayhap) passion? (there is no doubt about that!) the desire to achieve something totally different and new in my current adult life? (the jury is still out on that :p) - but the single most compelling (truth) reason would be; "curiosity".

fascination had led to passion, which led to obssession - im just effin' nosey about what's going on in pop-culture-world! i need/want to know what great toys are coming out from whom and when, and wanna share it with everyone. i wanna be inspired by the cool customs that pepper the toyworld. i like to be challenged in my small corner of the toyworld as well; my abilities ("skills" will take time hyukhyuk) and capabilities to be one day on par with the great customizers. to achieve another set of skill-set, of which i am confident, for which the road is a looooong ways to go hahahaha (i know "positive self-affirmation" only goes so far, but i've got to, for me own sake innit? even if tis only me that believes in it, innit? *bleh* :p)

without ever leaving my passion for movies (as much as i find myself wanting to, the industry), comics and personal obssession with retro-80s, i wanna know how the Transformer-movie designs look like! i wanna see comics done well on the silver screen! i wanna be jazzed and stoked over a cool movie! i wanna be able to talk about and share my passion for comicbooks! i wanna share the amazing videos (both good and bad) i've enjoyed with folks online! i wanna reminesce about the 80's, about stuff which affected me, good and bad ... and all these i've chosen to want to share online. here.

if it all sounds as if tis all about me, Me, ME, "i wanna, i want to, i want" - then mayhap it is ~ for tis my own voice that i "own", in the end-game, innit? my own opinions and reactions, as much as every info i post about, are the achievements that ultimately belongs/ed to "other" folks, innit? (and gawd bless each and every one of you)

blogging is narcissistic, some say. i recognize that may not be too far from the truth, but what of it? isn't every other public forum (online and offline) a form of self-narcissism? not loving the sound of your own voice/words, but rather loving/enjoying the opportunity to have your voice/words spoken and/or written? to be heard? to be read? sure as heck im not a "citizen journalist" (an irritating term local media/garhmen has thrusted upon bloggers), for i've forsaken local news in lieu of global pop culture (dare i say?) ... and in that sense and pre-perception of the naysayers (ie: non-bloggers) of what it is that each individual blogger does is pre-set, then folks'll miss out on the most important factor of the www = the sharing of information (IMHO).

imagine im 10 years old again, playing with my Playmobil, which i might share with my brother, or even a coupla school friends i know has Playmobil. or reading comics by myself and enjoying them by myself. what a solidary existence that was! (but then again, what the heck would you expect to know at age 10, innit? *heh*). but now? i can share all these and more with folks around the globe. share the passion, i say!

in short: i enjoy being curious. and i have found to appreciate this blog (there's new "label" functions now! *whoo-hoo*) and what it can achieve and do, with it's limitations, as well as what it has done for me. the island in which i stood/stand on (physically and metaphorically), teeters on the edge of the waterfall of information that which surrounds the cyberuniverse, in the larger scheme of things. and i'd like to immerse myself in that universe, really ~ and i hope y'all will come along for that ride with me? :)))

cheers
