of the heroes finale and character conspiracy theories and comments

and so HEROES [tagged] has ended (via local cable-tv anyways) and it took me near a week to catch my breath and organize my thoughts ... read what they are HERE, if you're so inclined :)

*SPOILER ALERT* .. sorta ... :p

a quick-wrap-up to an exciting 23-episodes of HEROES, with a variety of subplots completed as well as dangling like raw game meat in the middle of a jungle ... Mohinder goes gun-macho while protecting Molly, Ando cowboys-up and go confront Sylar, Issac thankful stays dead, my fav tartan-skirt Skrull shapeshifter candygirl Candice bites the dust gets whacked and nuclear-boy Ted dies a senseless death (what? he couldn't go all nuclear and melt Sylar's ass? got power-damper on him, izzit? :p) ... anyways, read on for more of my thoughts on the finale ... i dare ya ...

Prof Xavier mind-reader Parkman got shot:
HEROES_FINALE1
... and frankly i celebrated with a little jig inside my headspace - he's been the more annoying HERO-character on screen so far (next to Peter Petrelli) with his/their constant unconfident and unsteady use of their powers (the epileptic neck-twitching to show us his ear-drums whenever he uses his powers endears him not to me LOL) altho i reckon tis to balance out his (as well as Peter's) "motives" for using said powers for intrinsic "good" (goodness of their hearts) and hence a foil for the "everyman", yeh? ... but, yeah, am overjoyed glad he got shot - becoz subsequently, his character-arc is forced to evolve into the next stage/phase, be it down the path of his "specials-hunter" status (in Ep.20's Five Years Gone) mayhap starting with the worry about his wife and of the fear of whether his offspring is going to be a "special"? (which i think only works if two "Specials" geddit-on anyways) ... or maybe Parkman doesn't return til, mid-season (Season 2) if not Season 3, IMHO. or maybe he does a "reverse-Charles Xavier" and comes back crippled and confined to a wheelchair ... :p

did y'all notice, both Parkman and Bennet had only been referred to by their last names, most of the time? (besides Linderman of coz). were they supposed to be a foil for each other?

the Exploding-Man Becometh (was there ever a doubt?) with Peter suddenly and uncontrollably turning nuclear? or did Sylar force the power upon him? well, at least Issac didn't exist (and died) for nothing, eh? altho t'was indeed a half-assed premonition, becoz it happened during the night and not day! LOL (and not in the middle of a downtown jam). altho i couldn't help but notice (or suspect) whether it was deliberate to have a sub-standard effect of a irradiated-Peter looking like a used neon-stick glow after a night out at the local rave party, or having him look like a quasi-angel (an angel of death, no less, halos not included, fhanks) ... which ties in to the quasi-Biblical apesct of Bennet/HRG when he thanks Peter for saving Claire and asks him to call him "Noah" (ie: shepherding the survival of the "specials")?
HEROES_FINALE2
anyways, the Bennet-assasination of his former-friend/collegue Thompson was cold-blooded and provided a real-kicker to his character (where the heck was the Haitian in alla these?) and personally, i still haven't decided if Bennet was supposed to be the Cable or Bishop of this group (and yes, i know HRG never time-travelled - but ya need the military-ish go-to-guy somehow, innit? or maybe that was Future-Hiro? *heh* :p)

anyways, Peter's time travel-back to the rooftop was cool, with Charles Deveaux talking back at Peter (is Charles the Bogey-Man Cerebro Molly spoke of? of the one who would look back at her when she tried tracking mutants specials down?) but hell, didn't Peter learn anything? gleaned any further insights that would've help strengthened his resolve when he powered-up during his confrontation with Sylar? nope, he just wimped out and had his brother save his exploding-ass instead LOL

i have a theory - the Powers before the current batch (which both Linderman and Mdm Petrelli had mentioned prior) did band together once and tried to do good, yaddayaddayadda ... but differences of opinions and approach split them down the middle, with Hiro's father Takei and Deveaux on one side (both have appeared on the rooftop locale before), while Linderman and Mdm Petrelli on the other. and maybe one of Deveaux's "side" runs the "specials hunting agency", yeh? or maybe that again was a further (or third) splinter from the group? now that's a flashback episode i wanna see! LOL

so what was Mdm Petrelli and Hiro's father's powers anyways? "The Convincer" and "The Teacher"? LOL (Mdm Petrelli reminds me of Loki, dunno why tho...)

frankly, the Niki/Jessica/DL/Michah-story-arc only served as a vehicle for the token "babe factor" of Ali Larter (spankability wearing off quick tho) and the pseudo-danger involved with a young kid in the whole hoopla - of coz as well as another counter "family-dynamic"-device, to compare with the Petrellis and Bennets, and frankly nothing much else of use, if not a puppet for whomever was paying Jessica to turn tricks or murderize folks, innit?
HEROES_FINALE3
with inner-strength and power comes the responsibility to whack a serial-killer in-front of your child? HAH! does she even know who Sylar is?

... or maybe it's just setting up her subsequent role as "foster-mother" to Molly, yeh? and suddenly tis "cute" to have two kids mucking about in the Sander's household (not the Hawkins-household becoz the man is a wimp) .. i know i never do (and probably never will) give the character Shaowcat D.L. much credit, except for strength to whine about his hard-ass-luck throughout the series tho (LOL) but did appreciate him embracing his powers by fisting Linderman's skull (as wrong as that sounds, i dun care LOL) is the episode before the last ... but he gets himself shot. it's not a "heroes' sacrifice" - it's just a stupid move and lame.

altho what i'd like to see is a "Fifteen Years Gone" episode, to see the future of a grown-up Cypher Micah, that works with a computerized-download of Linderman, while both Niki and DL has passed on...

and Hiro Nakamura turns murderer attempted-murderer, thanks to his dad. Ando gets a free-ride home (which bugs me to shitte of such a cop-out tho) and Sylar presumably crawls to the nearest manhole? and folks saunder around when the police arrives and scope the scene later and nobody realizes the blood trail? *slaps palm on forehead*
HEROES_FINALE4
... i can only presume Sylar eventually joins the Morlocks down the sewers, innit? ... but he can't die now, can he? who is the Villain that the new Heroes going to fight in Season Two? terrorists? aliens? (Gah-Luk-Tus) Galactus? each other? (ala Civil War) ... the scary Bogey-Man Molly mentioned? .... where is the League Of Super Villains when ya need them? ... *hhhhmmmmm*

the end-prelude of Hiro panicking in the middle of an glassland in a timewarp circa 1671 Japan was as interesting as two ladybirds mating and screened on IMAX ... aaah but the eclispe was a good tease tho :) ... here's hoping Hiro looses his by-now-irritating YATTAAAAA!-stance/persona and take up a slightly more mature and responsible character development-arc (as much as i lurve Future Hiro - no, not yet) and really no need to end up being like a foolish tourist stuck in a cosplay-recreation of an ancient Japanese battle-recreation up on a hill by the amusement park, yeh? :p wide-eyed innocence, yes, but not downright ignoramy, purleez ... IMHO :)

Hiro and Sword = Thor and Mjlonir - think about it ...

the goose-pimpled cliche that was Nathan Petrelli's sacrifice to fly off with Peter in his arms, was only matched by the tenderness of the sacrifice, and of the notion of "brotherly-love" and eventual strength in Nathan's character, to "do the right thing"...
HEROES_FINALE5
in the sea of grey, between the shores of Black and White, Nathan has been floating endlessly between for the entire season, maybe tis time he made a decision to swim to either end, if not to stay afloat at all (becoz he was starting to get less interesting and just downright 2-dimensional) ... provided he survived the explosion, innit?
HEROES_FINALE6
did Nathan fly away in time for Peter to explode in the stratosphere? did Peter himself survive the explosion, having had Claire's invulnerability? i actually disliked Peter quite a bit in the beginning, but his subtle changes were make evident when he flashbacked to the rooftop (with Deveaux) - and you'd appreciate (or at least i did) the evolution/growth/change in the man. great touch, IMHO.

and there lies the finale of HEORES. of coz there were many memorable scenes and touches (like Claire jumping out the window and getting up = *cool*), together with the goosepimpled-cliches (there were many throughout the series but bearable somehow LOL) it was frankly, a hohum-ending, as exciting as it was when i watched it on the telly last week, the after-taste as a tad bland, IMHO ... but not bland enough for me to write this longwinded post, yeh? HAH!

watch it at one go, if you're so inclined and mayhaps the disappointment would not be heightened becoz of the "wait". otherwise a sweet effort so far and looking forward to the next season! *cool*
