New York Comic Con 2009: Day Zero (Feb 5 / Set-up Day)

Courtesy of Jared Deal of (Booth 964) - we now have a look at "Day Zero" (aka "Set-up Day" - I like to name it as such even if no one calls it like that ;p) - the calm before the fanboy-feeding-frenzy storm that is to begin on February 6th Friday 2009 as the doors open at 10AM (for Industry-folks / "Professionals") and from 1PM onwards for the adoring public. New York Comic Con 2009 is held @ the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City and lasts til Sunday February 8th 2009. [NYCC-Coverage on TRE]

*WARNING: If you don't want to spoil the experience of going to the Con for yourselves, DO NOT watch the video slideshow or go on any further in this post* [Higher-res on my Vimeo] BUT if you're unable to be there physically (like me :p) - then click away and CLICK THRU for more words and select pics :)

New York Comic Con touts itself as the second largest popular culture convention in America (after San Diego Comic Con, as most commonly compared to) and the only one that takes place in the comic book, publishing, media, and licensing capital of the world; New York City.

NYCC 2009 sees the event in the fourth year running since it's inception in 2006 by Reed Exhibitions. The event this year is held at the Jacob K. Javits Center featuring the latest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies, and television. Panels, autograph sessions and sneak peek at films and television shows complete the three day love-affair for pop culture enthusiasts and practitioners.

NYCC 2008 was an exceptional "trip" for me - online that is! With the ever-generous Eric Daye of The ZRO Hour (and Beth White!) feeding my pop-addiction! [CLICK for NYCC08-coverage]. Here's hoping 2009 will again be a fruitful one, for folks manning the booths, fans and collectors pounding the convention aisles, and for readers of TRE :)
