[Say *HI* to The LOUT and TREATURE]
SUPER7: We know for years you have been considered one of the finest toy customizers in the vinyl toy community, but tell us a little bit about how you came up with the Dead Bear brand, and what significance it might hold to the toys bearing its name.
MOTORBOT: The name is just something that came to me one night, and I really liked how it sounded. From there the actual dead bear character/logo came to me and I knew I had to run with it. There will be a dead bear figure for sure, and possibly a wall mounted plaque. I have other incarnations of the bear planned as well. You might see a plush at some point. He’s my new mascot so expect to see him...

SUPER7: What can attendees expect to see on display and for sale at the upcoming Waking a Dead Bear show at Super7 Florida on Saturday, April 24th?
MOTORBOT: That will depend a little on just how much I can finish. There will be between 30 and 40 figures across 6 different sculpts. All will be one offs available only at the show.
Since this is the debut of the new line I want everyone to get a feel for what I’m doing. You’ll see all these figures again as part of the regular releases. There just might be a surprise or two in store as well...

SUPER7: Perhaps the most exciting facet in your new toys is the fact they are hand-rotocast soft urethane resin. How does the material compare to Japanese soft vinyl, and could we perhaps be on the verge of producing similar quality toys, as far as touch and feel and durability, on our own here in America?
MOTORBOT: It’s a really interesting material. Honestly I had no idea how it would work out. I did a little research, but I tend to learn best by doing. The end result is somewhere between Japanese vinyl and ABS. It retains amazing detail that I don’t think you would get from western vinyl and is very rigid and doesn’t have the squishy feel you get from Japanese vinyl. And since it's hollow it has a really nice weight too. If they were solid resin it would be like holding a brick. It’s also very durable. The wind threw one of the steaks about ten feet. It landed on a concrete walkway without a scratch or crack...
