Weta @ San Diego Comic Con 2010 (Booth 2615)
A wee headsup at what's happening at Weta's booth #2615 at this year's San Diego Comic Con 2010 [tagged] ~ showcasing 3 one-of-a-kind custom painted Dr Grordbort's rayguns (*I heart rayguns* ~ especially retro-steampunked glories), the first sample of the new "Art of District 9" book, and with the announcement of "The Wind In The Willows" feature film project, perhaps there be surprises at the booth?
And once I get the "go ahead", I'd love to share with you folks something that is being worked on now (and hopefully for a debut at SDCC) which I think will blow your toy-lurving-mind (*cough*). Meanwhile, do CLICK THRU for a quick-peep and check out Weta @ SDCC Booth #2615.
The 3 one-of-a-kind custom painted Dr Grordbort's ManMelter rayguns are Exclusive to SDCC and will be made available at a first come, first served basis (but are to remain on display until Sunday). ~ Average cost per piece is US$1,250. [The Divine Ray]
[Der Adler]
[The Iron Tiger]
Weta will be displaying the first sample of the new "Art of District 9" 160-pager book which is scheduled to be released at the end of the year. We first featured some conceptual drawings / sketches earlier this year HERE, and this will indeed be a treat, (I personally am a sucker for "behind-the-scenes / making-of" film books).
"This is a must for any District 9 fan. Created by the same Weta Workshop team that helped create the movie, the book tells the inside story of how the art was conceptualised and developed in to the final versions you saw in the movie. We were fortunate to have Director Neill Blomkamp fully involved in the creation of the book, contributing his own art and writing the Foreword. The book is authored by Weta designer Daniel Falconer, who has been heavily involved in our earlier books "The Crafting of Narnia" and "The World of Kong"." [Via]
