The World Of Toys on TOYSREVIL (Feb/9/2011)
If ever a toy-series looked as yummy as ice lollies ("Paddle-Pops" comes to mind!) - it would be this lineup of REJECT DUMNY BOOTLEGS currently put on Ebay for your online auction pleasures from the Sucklord. Look for the five flavors via http://shop.ebay.com/morgrock/m.html each with about 5+days to bid ~ Happy Bidding!
From Peer at VKings comes toy-news of "CANNICS" by FIFTYEIGHT - with the OG Yellow being the first colorway edition to be released. Priced at EUR 79.00 (plus shipping), the 12.2 inch tall character is ready to ship and available at http://V-KINGZ.COM. Curiously, in the Art Toy world, a limbless vinyl character works! The spraycap-belly button is a tad morbid touch though, or perhaps whimsical in certain countries :)
CANNICS STORY: For more than 12 years, Cannics has been the official mascot of FIFTYEIGHT3D, an internationally award-winning 3D animation company based in Frankfurt, Germany. The direct translation of this mellow, yellow fellow's name, "Cannics," means "Can't do anything."
This is based on the fact that his creators have not endowed him with any means of articulating himself; which is fine, because really, there is no use for Cannics anyhow, except being a cheerful mascot for the FIFTYEIGHT3D team.
In a way, Cannics is a modern-day, overweight continuation of the iconic Smiley Face from the 1980s. An overweight, slightly clumsy and clueless continuation, however, but hey, since when were mascots supposed to do anything productive anyhow?!
And despite the fact that he spends most of his days helpessly moping around the FIFTYEIGHT3D website, he's quite cheerful with an unbedingly optimistic outlook on life. We love this yellow hunk of awesomeness, and hope so will you.

A surprising find derived from a Kozik-link - Introducing RPM, a Record Store Day branded vinyl figure, designed by Frank Kozik in a variety of designs based on a fixed body form, scheduled for a Record Store Day 2011-release (April 16th) - in blind box format, with a limited edition run of 5,000. Tis fun that they are each carrying a vinyl album sleeve tho … I wonder how big the figures are…
And currently distributed by DKE Toys is "The Bird Is the Word" Bronze bust from Frank Kozik. Standing 16" tall (x 14" W x 12" D) - the bust is made available after Kozik's 2009 solo show at Billy Shire Fine Arts. An edition of 20 pieces with a price tag of US$4,000 per. Through the years, tis imagery like these that somewhat describes the art toy / lowbrow crowd - suversice with whimsy bordering on the imaginary-cusp of insult and distaste. Yummy indeed!
Blamotoys would like to remind folks that the remaining Nimbus customs are now up for sale in Blamo's webstore here, and as an added bonus, for the entire month of February all custom Nimbus figures will be 10% off. And as well for folks who missed December's "Nimbus Custom Show," (*raises hands*) Blamo has put together this minute long video to share:
We first posted about the existence if the 3A SQUARE Japan Defense Force paperboy edition here - now we get to see the figure in full-construct right next to an actual 1/6th-scaled SQUARE - courtesy of 3A-forumer "Naen Othman", who made a trek down to Wonder Festival (Winter) show - to score the free papercraft! (And of course, procure the desired Japan-exclusive Dropcloth & Square set). No wood if you can buy these crafts after the event tho, and I somehow doubt it would be for sale. Perhaps the powers that be can do a LOVE SQUARE - just perfect for Valentine's Day? Heh.
Author Neil Gaiman twittered: "We glued the Sandman prototype back together. Strange cloaks are in this Season." - and like all irresponsible twitterers who pilfer twitter for quotes and images, I have absolutely no context for this image of said Sandman prototype, except that it is awesome-rad, and an irresistible slice of my comicbook past … aaaaahhhhhh
