Custom MAD*Ls & Munnys for Adventures In Kitsch 2006 (TOYSREVIL-Redux)
A few years ago, local designer-toy specialists Go Kitsch launched their storefront in City Gallery @ Bras Basah Complex. And while that storefront is no more, the memory of the event lingers still with me, being one of the first times I've ventured forth to cover a local event specifically for the blog (just another random dude sneaking in and taking snaps,a stranger I was to most everyone heehee), and as well see with my own eyes for the first time, a collective of local artists working on their Munnys "live" to showcase at the event!
Fast forward to 2011 - 5 years after the event - no doubt the custom Mad*Ls and Munnys might bring forth a blush or two to the respective artists (both their craft and styles no doubt has evolved thru the years), nevertheless it is nice to review the customs again - something that frankly never did seem to happen in Singapore for many a years actually, until recently. The reasons for the lack of group custom shows no longer is about the "lack of talent", but perhaps space and time might be an issue. And of course, the forms do not come free or cheap, so what toys to custom on, beyond commissions? Give me a space and free toys, and I'll give you a show you'll not forget soon.
The event was "Adventures In Kitsch" circa 2006. A selection of Mad*L customs pre-done before the event launch was first on display, featuring the works of PHU!, Sheryo, ZERO, Gardensilly (aka Eeshaun), Pixelmunky and 1-2-Delta. Might even be the first time I see a Mad*L form up-close too! Posted above are a montage preview of the pieces ~ See? I started this style-schtick even then! LOL

In addition to the custom-Mad*Ls on display, the artists sat in on launch day to customize their own individual GID / Glow-in-the-dark Munnys, with the result on display shortly afters. With exception was The Killer Gerbil, who painted "live" on a wooden panel instead. His Munny-custom was included on the display later.

DISCLAIMER: TOYSREVIL first covered the event in 2006, but due to a "re-adjustment" of Yahoo, a load of redirected images in previous "Yahoo!Albums" were then reposted on my Multiply, for which I am presently trying to migrate most images out of , with the site becoming redundant, as well developing into a "marketplace", which is utterly useless to me. So here you get to re-look what you may have missed all these years!
