Custom-Feature: a rhino & friend by Daniel Yu (a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character modernization)

Local artist Daniel Yu modernizes Rocksteady from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (aka TMNT) toy figurine series, featuring newly sculpted on details such as the armored kneepads, belt and elbow guard. Entitled "a rhino & friend", this piece stands roughly 4.5 inches. There's also a little ox pecker companion to go with him, perched nicely on his rhino-horn! In addition, the add on pieces were sculpted using epoxy putty and the entire figure was repainted with acrylic paints. Nice!


Technical knowhow aside, Daniel shares with us his impressions of his own work: "I got pretty inspired by the old ninja turtle line of figures by playmates and was really impressed with the amount of sculptural details they had for its time (in fact they're still pretty good for todays standards, imho) . I've decided to revisit a few of my childhood toys, starting first with Rocksteady. I'd like to 'modernize' these vintage tmnt figures and hope to do a small series of them in the near future."
