Third Anniversary Of Plastic Culture: A Statement From Joshua Artono
Today, Friday July 1st sees Indonesia-based Plastic Culture celebrate their third anniversary. P.C. has been extremely kind to TOYSREVIL, having invited and hosted me to be a Special Guest in Jakarta last year for Munny World Festival Indonesia, both Joshua and Win has been also good to me personally too. Hell, they even visited me in the hospital while I was lying in for Stroke-recovery last year! TWICE!
That is the measure of compassion and passion these folks (and their friends) have, much less for the industry and toy-culture in Indonesia, IMHO.
In this day of their anniversary, I bugged Joshua Artono (the CEO and Founder of Plastic Culture) for his impressions of this fateful day, and of the path P.C. has taken thus far - along with a surprise announcement that'll be a surefire delight to fans in Indonesia!
JOSHUA ARTONO: This three years have been quite a journey for us. Started out with a simple kiosk three years ago (2008) at fX Lifestyle X'nter which then quickly turn into our first store with a motto, MY NEW OBSESSION. Then, in a blink of an eye, here we are.. three stores and 6 kiosks later, Plastic Culture still stands. We are very grateful to have such supports from the toy lovers all over Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and around the world.
JOSHUA ARTONO: Over the past three years, we have so many great memories. From our workshop sessions in almost every University in Jakarta, to our in store exhibitions and not forget the custom contests. One of the most memorable event was none other than Munny World Festival Indonesia where we see more than 250 customized Munny in one place with attendance of more than 3000 people in the span of three days. To see such talent, creativity, and the celebration of art toys in a single place, it's just simply remarkable.

A TOYSREVIL first: we are here to announce the next MUNNY WORLD FESTIVAL INDONESIA will be take its place again late September or early October this year at Plastic Culture, Grand Indonesia.
JOSHUA ARTONO: This is a great opportunity to tell you that the story behind Plastic Culture. It is founded simply because we want to inspire Indonesian artists to expand their horizon. Our dream has always been the same, and that is to take up local underground artists and introduce them to the international scene. It is not an easy task but we believe that if we are faithful in small things than big things will come.
Now, we are producing toys in collaboration with My Tummy Toys, Kuso Vinyl, and more to come (can't reveal prior to agreement). We will also be releasing our line of toys featuring our resident artists, Thunderpanda and Bismark Toy Lab (formerly known as Saltnpaper) as well as couple of toys line up from international known artists.

Also in collaboration with our urban clothing line, DAMN! I LOVE INDONESIA, we will also be previewing something of yet a surprise. If you are attending TTF 2011 this year, make sure to drop by in booth A7 and look for me. Of course, I will greet you with a big smile!
Once again, thank you for all the support and love for Plastic Culture. You may not know, but it really means a lot to me. Special shout out goes to my man, Andy for all the advice and supports that you have given us and the opportunity that you have given for me, especially to pour my heart on your blog. Thanks buddy! Speedy recovery as well.. MUCH LOVE!
