Paper toys on the move: ReaDIYmates
"Moving Paper Toys"? Interesting premise, methinks. Dolly Oblong clues us in on a project titled "reaDIYmates" = wifi connected toys are invented by Parisian guys from reaDIYmate, and they have asked Tougui, Mr Kone, Guillain le villain and Dolly Oblong to come up with the designs. Shown here is an image of Pip & Crazy Bull (from Dolly) who are part of the Gym Heroes team. You can view more builds on their Pininterest.
To make the toys come to life a campaign has been started on Kickstarter. And with the video shown below, it look pretty darn neat, if not "entertaining" - check out another video here - where a paper Kinetic Sculpture is set to react when the user get "likes" on his/her Facebook posts!
'reaDIYmates are cool Wifi paper things that move and play sounds depending on what’s happening in your digital life. Assemble them in 10 minutes or go further by changing their graphics, their shape or their behavior according to your skills and mood. We made it simple.
reaDIYmate's dream is to enable everyone to build interactive objects connected to the web. We are used to User-Generated Content. Now is the time for User-Generated Things. This is why we call reaDIYmate "The People's Republic of Interactive Things".'
