Art Toy Nations on Facebook
I want to build a community. A community in Asia that focuses on "Art / Designer Toys". But I cannot do it alone, and I need YOUR help doing so.
The toy-scene in Asia is predominantly focused on licensed-toys (which no doubt is prevalent throughout the world as well hahaha) and is a scene I too have interests in, but it has it's own varied communities and niche-locales and forums developed thru the years, via media-hyped products we might see in movies and cartoons = ie in-built awareness of the character in which is made into smaller-scaled pieces of plastic, which folks hoard like gold bricks LOL
But when it comes to "Art Toys" or "Designer Toys", the scene is not as robust as I had hoped it would be, - in Singapore, as perhaps in other neighboring Asian countries - if not as embraced and in regard like Western countries do (no doubt the sheer number of population in a country, and as well practicioners- both play an important part).
Sure there are various toy-forums in each country, in their own mother tongue. There are also a myriad of other toy-blogs and hobby-sites which provide the news of the art toy culture for everyone to immerse and envelope themselves in. There are also various other sites that promote artists (like what Trampt is exceptionally doing), and perhaps even other locales I have yet to even know of.
Be that as it may, I had hoped to add to the building of a community - both local and in Asean-countries, via a few new Facebook-pages I had just set up. I might not be able to maintain them as diligently as my own blog and Facebook-page (I am only one Stroke-affected man after all LOL) but hoped folks and participators can do their part to make it an enriching and fulfilling locale for folks keen to showcase, or even learn more about the Art Toy Culture.
For your kind "Liking" and participating considerations:
ART TOY NATION [www]
WHAT: A page interested in the showcase and listing of Singapore-based toy-customizers, toy-designers and toy-makers. The list might not be as huge, but the list needs to grow, and grow it will. I will make sure of it.
ART TOY NATION ASIA [www]
WHAT: A page interested in the showcase and listing of Asean/Asia-based toy-customizers, toy-designers and toy-makers. The list might encapsulate from folks in Indonesia, to The Philippines, from Thailand to Taiwan, from Japan to Malaysia, even Singapore. And you can choose to list yourself in your mother tongue, if the 'English language' is a primary hurdle to have yourselves being made known to the world.
ART TOY NATION SG [www]
WHAT: A page specifically dedicated to all Art Toy Collectors based in Singapore! We want to see YOUR collection of designer / art toys on your display shelves! I truly hope to see this community grow in Singapore, not just in size, but in possibilities of what folks can enjoy.
Non-Asian Collectors fret not, for I have the iCollect Toys for you to showcase your collections! Email me at toysreviler [at] gmail.com. Share To SHow You Care!
