Artransmitte: Q&A + Seen @ ToyConUK 2013
TOYSREVIL speaks to online retailers Artransmitte about their experience with ToyConUK, and as well they have since listed up their exclusives online for sales, featuring their exclusive with Brutherford, Casket Cruiser and others at www.artransmitte.com.
TOYSREVIL: How was the ToyCon for you? Was it what you expected it to be?
ARTRANSMITTE: This was our first toy con so we didn't completely know what to expect as far as sales go, but we knew the energy would be high with lots of great artists and exclusives available! It was a really great experience to meet up with so many fantastic artists who we've been in touch with via social media over the years and other new ones.
We also loved catching up with some of our online customers and getting first-hand feedback from them. Overall we've taken away some good learnings which will be useful for our next event at Cardiff Tattoo & Toy Con in July and of course, next year's ToyCon UK :D
TOYSREVIL: Tell us what you had on your table! And which of your items had the warmest reception / best response?
ARTRANSMITTE: At our booth, we had our exclusives: Artransmitte x Brutherford Ice Scream Man Bite size UK edition, DIY Dynamite Rex Raaar!, a super limited Super7 combo of the Rose Vampire Casket Cruiser Outerspaced edition with a mini print signed by Josh Herbolsheimer and our very own limited edition tote bag which we gave away to purchases over £25.
In addition, we brought along a variety of toys and lifestyle products that we sell through our store including: Crazy Label's Tippy, Jeff Pigeon's Beavers, Fonzo DIY, Gary Ham Monster Toytem, Mythos Buddies Series 2, Andrew Bell's Android Lucky Cat, Scott Tolleson's Nosellots, Celsius Catchaman, other Super7 toys, illustrated tshirts & prints, toy-focused books, Poketo wallets, stickers and cool temporary tattoos!
We found that visitors to our stand appreciated the variety of our offering, but we received the best reception by far from our Brutherford Ice Scream Man, the DIY Dynamite Rex Raaar! (completely sold out), Jeff Pigeon's Beavers (completely sold out) and unexpectedly dia de los sticker packs flew off our table!
TOYSREVIL: Any suggestions to make the event even more awesome in the future?
ARTRANSMITTE: As far as suggestions go, the most challenging for visitors and exhibitors was attendee tickets. The location was really small this year to serve as a test in the UK market, but this of course limited the number of tickets that could be sold and many people were left disappointed with the tickets selling out quite quickly.
On the day of the event, there was a huge rush of people in the morning, but not everyone hung around all day so it became a bit slow with the same visitors passing by. Our suggestion would be to sell morning, afternoon and full-day tickets to better support the flux of traffic and allow for more people to attend.
Additionally the location for signing, workshops, etc. was in a different area from the exhibition space which made the two seem much less cohesive. It clearly was organised this way due to the limitations of space, but the buzz created by the two being in the same area must make a real impact! We hear that next year's venue has already been reserved and is much bigger so we're sure many of these issues will be sorted in the future.
