#throwbacktoythursday: Boring Juice

BORING JUICE GIRL & BOY was designed by (the now defunct) Boredomsqueezer from Hong Kong (of which principal designer Alan Ng has since started Double Line / Fools Paradise) and produced by Play Imaginative.

"Boredomsqueezer" were know primarily for their 1/6-scaled figures, and as well later on for "MIKUSTAR", most of whom were mostly self-produced (that I know of, anyways). "BORING JUICE" was an exception, and featured a design that was even initially touted as a "platform toy" concept.

First released circa 2008 at the inaugural Singapore Toy and Comic Con (STCC), the set featured a pair of 5" tall vinyl figurines (with what seemed to be ABS Plastic "bodies"). I've tracked the developments on the blog since before, leading to the recent sales at PI's store in China Square Central, where I finally picked them up, after 5-6 years of wanting them!

Posted here today are snaps of the packaging and the figures itself, which features a removable "cream" topping, to reveal a "can-top" (non-pullable tab, thanks!), although I think the entire can top was not supposed to be removable (???), even though one of my pieces did :p … but then again, the edges were "clean", so nothing "broke", methinks :)

A nice slice of an art-toy-past in the East, that midget have been overlooked in the West, IMHO. Fun pieces to own - especially with the SGD$10 price-tag! (so frankly I'm not going into details about product quality and finishes, which were frankly pretty decent in he first place lol), and as well a swell slice of Boredomsqueezer-memorabilia, perfect for a #throwbacktoythursday feature! :)
