RSCLS for "An Eminent Takeover" (#urbanisme)
"Graffiti" in Singapore is kept strictly to city street walls and corporate events, and is even rarer still to see shopping malls being covered with street art … until now! Over at Lavender Street, the 1980s-built "Eminent Plaza" is slated for demolition in October 2014, along with the Lavendar Food Court (to make way for a redevelopment into a planned 16-storey project with office and retail units), and for the month of September, the locale is taken over by artists attempting to give it a "last retrospective peak" at the since abandoned space, featuring artwork makeovers and exhibitions, musical performances, and otherwise activities unseen before utilizing the space once known as a “vice mall”.
Check out the event's Facebook page for who is involved in "An Eminent Takeover" (#urbanisme) - a collaborative community project by Tact Space x THE RSC.
Thanks to ZERO, and ANTZ of RSCLS, we have some snaps to share, of their work.
