1000Tentacles for *BYEBYE 2017, HELLO 2018* On TOYSREVIL
TOYSREVIL: How was 2017 for you? Share with us your most triumphant moment in 2017. What did you find the most disappointed of 2017?
1000 TENTACLES: "2017 was a year full of challenges:
(1) First, we have to complete our toy orders/delivery/meeting release deadlines. Each sculpture toys that we release are hand-painted by us. Every single details are checked and going through QC (by myself), to make sure the toys are up to our expectation.
(2) Attending toy conventions.
In 2017, we took part in Wonder Festival(summer)Japan, STGCC (Singapore), Taipei Toy Festival and Thailand (my solo art exhibition). We released <1000monster series 01>,and at the same time, spending time in producing my painting series. They each sold out during the toy conventions and so did the paintings during Thailand solo exhibition. The positive results have prompted us to carry forward and making the amount of stress we faced more bearable."
1000 TENTACLES: "(3) In the same year where we put plan into action: to produce our first vinyl toy. During the toy conventions, we are very lucky to meet so many toy designers and toy manufactorers whom were so generous in sharing their thoughts and experiences. These are most valuable and we are very grateful to them!
vinyl toy project involves a lot of communication with toy factory. Since this is our first time dealing with factory, we can only put in our 1000% efforts into the project and hope for the best!

1000 TENTACLES: "(4)1000Tentacles Limited Exclusive Doll, BJD.
When we first opened our studio, releasing our own line of BJD is part of our targets. We spent a lot of time doing research. Making BJD (*Ball-Jointed-Doll*) involved a lot of steps: sculpt the body, make ball joints, sew the dress, make wig and finally doing faceup (make up) for the doll. The challenges involved are beyond words, and frustrations can only treated
with humour: just laugh at the set backs and back to square one and try again."

TOYSREVIL: What is your most favorite toy, or piece of art you've seen in 2017?
1000 TENTACLES: "Piece of art that is our favorite will be "WestWorld", the TV series. The ending is surprising and out of my expectation. Now eagerly awaiting Season 2!"
TOYSREVIL: What are you most looking forward to in 2018? Any plans for your work, for the new year you can share with us?
1000 TENTACLES: "(1)vinyl toy project will be released in April 2018."
1000 TENTACLES: "(2) <1000monster> series 01 sold out. This year we will continue with the plan and launch series 02. Our target is to produce 1000 different types of monsters, as the name suggested: 1000Monster. This will be a lifelong project for us :)
(3) Metamorphosis series_03, in the making.
(4) 1000Tentacles Limited Exclusive Doll will be launched in VI Spring Ball of Dolls, Moscow, Russia this coming 08-11 March, 2018. Our doll will be making its debut there."
TOYSREVIL: Share with us, WHO you are and what you do?
1000 TENTACLES: "We are 1000Tentacles, based in Malaysia. Studio founded by me, WanKok and Khor. We make toys and dolls. The monster designs are my creation, whereas Khor handles bjd creations. We both share a passion for toys, art, movies, music."
