A Hero Will Rise & Thundercats Will Roar Again! New Animation Programs for SHE-RA & THUNDERCATS ROAR!
It has been quite an exciting few days in the (traditional) TV landscape in the United States, as both NEW shows on television are announced and trailers teased (alongside unfortunate news of programs being cancelled too) - which technically provides my tv-hobby blog loads of content (just need to find time to post about them :p) ... BUT this two slices of geekery-news might engage folks reading the TOYSREVIL-blog: rejuvenation of SHE-RA THE PRINCESS OF POWER, and THUNDERCATS as animation programs!
"She-Ra" is courtesy of DreamWorks on Netflix, while "Thundercats" sees a wholly new incarnation as a "Steve Universe"-aesthetically styled "Thundercat Roar", courtesy of Cartoon Network!
"This new take on the 1980s cult classic follows an orphan named Adora who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde. She then discovers a magical sword that can transform her into the warrior princess She-Ra, and unites a group of magical princesses "in the ultimate fight against evil."" (reported www.ign.com).
Warner Bros Animation is currently producing a new Thundercats cartoon titled "Thundercats Roar" for 2019 release on Cartoon Network. Featured here in this post are the intro for the animation (seen above), as well as an "announcement trailer"/BTS of the cartoon (see below). The characters are named the same and retain their iconic character design, but that's about all the "similarities" remain, as these clips can obviously show. I'd wanted to call the www-reaction "divisive", but perhaps I'll let YOU decide for yourselves. Feel free to leave your impressions in the comments section here, fhanks :)
"It’s time again to feel the magic and hear the roar! Production is currently underway on ThunderCats Roar, an all-new, animated sci-fi action comedy series from Warner Bros. Animation. Bursting with over-the-top action and razor-sharp comedy, ThunderCats Roar boasts fresh and vibrant character designs along with a dynamic storytelling tone that promises to reignite the passionate fanbase of these iconic characters and introduce the legacy of Thundera to a whole new generation. ThunderCats Roar will be coming to Cartoon Network in 2019.
Staying true to the premise of the original series, Lion-O and the ThunderCats — Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat and Wilykit — barely escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth. Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home. A bizarre host of creatures and villains stand in their way, including the evil Mumm-Ra, Third Earth’s wicked ruler who will let nothing, including the ThunderCats, stop his tyrannical reign over the planet."
