Art Toy Carnival (July 21-22)
It's like you turn a corner these days and there'll be a brand new festival/arts/toys-event happening every other month, blossoming vibrantly - especially in China! Especially niche events dedicated to "TOYS" and culture of "ART TOYS" and artists, beyond the mass market licenses of massive conventions and it's ilk, has always been a personal dream of mine, since starting this blog over a decade ago ... and seeing these type of events happening now, bings a smile to my heart - even though I'd not have a chance to visit them :)
As an "Appreciator" of the genre/scene/culture, I am excited to see so many acknowledgements of the vitality of the "scene", and on a selfish note, I love it that artists all around the world have so many more physical platforms to showcase and sell their works now!
Admittedly, I too am "thankful" I am not in the bracket of collectors being able to afford everything I want (or blog about), so I've hardly any time to suck thumbs or stress-out over NEEDING to buy anything, IMHO. But, I'll happily feature them on my blog LOL - A pity I found out about this event too late to help promote it, and the artists involved... Nevertheless, introducing the ART TOY CARNIVAL!
Organised by China-based "Streams" (www.streamsart.com), the inaugural Art Toy Canival 2018 Beijing takes place at the Mirror Lake Art Space (Taoci 1st Street, Art Zone No.4, 798 Art District, Dashanzi, Beijing), from July 21st to July 22nd, 2018 (10:00am-6:00pm).
The event is "carnival"-themed, and quite a number of offerings are themed similarly (which I adore!). More than 40+ artists have been mentioned will join this event.
Featured here are just a few of what you can find at the event - with some snaps from the artists on-site, most of whom were flown in and in attendance (predominantly the Asian artists), which is a real treat to meet them in persona and see them live-painting!
