Customs from The Bots & Steve Casino for "WAX NOSTALGIC: 1994" - Opening Aug 17th

We've got a headsup from Chris Breeden (who's currently curating an art show in Covington Kentucky, named "WAX NOSTALGIC: 1994"), about a few "collectible toys" in the show, including these two pieces:

Featured above is a 3-inch tall Dunny made from Polymer and Vinyl, interpreting Homer's love for donuts in "The Simpsons"! Priced at US$150 for this OOAK piece, you can check out more of The Bots' custom-work on instagram.com/thejennbot.

(Above) "After years of doing highly-detailed, miniature art, Steve Casino took the opportunity to try something looser and larger. His nickname for this style is "Splinterpunk." It combines primitive wooden toys from the 1800s with edgier, more updated themes like Danzig. Danzig IV, released in 1994, was my favorite hard rock album of that year and one I never get tired of listening to. The price for it is $475."
Both collectibles will be available at the show and if it doesn't sell at the opening it will be available online at bldgrefuge.com at 3pm on Saturday August 18th.

ABOUT THE SHOW: "WAX NOSTALGIC: 1994 is an art show and homage celebrating a year that defined a decade. From the wicked to the whack, ‘94 spawned some of the most compelling and memorable moments of an entire era. Guest curated by Chris Breeden, the show invites over 50 artists to reminisce on the pop culture and current events of 1994. It was a time of hella highs and bogus lows and the best way to deal was to party on through. Some remember it fondly, others would rather forget – but all are invited to celebrate what turned out to be one helluva year.

Arguably the most compelling and memorable year of the 90s, the show features over 50 local, regional and national artist all waxing nostalgic for pop art and culture from ’94. From Forrest Gump to the Shawshank Redemption, Nelson Mandela’s election to Kurt Cobain’s untimely death, it was a year of immense highs and the lowest of lows. What remains are our memories brought to life by the artists in the show."

Exhibition opening + Artist Party, August 17, 7 - 11 pm with special performance from DJ Brock McKinley. On view August 17 - September 14
