Introducing Couch Potato turned Designer Collectible: POTATOY by Jan Dornig

Shanghai-based, Austrian product designer Jan Dornig generously shares with TOYSREVIL a look at his "potatoy" figure - currently planned for a small production run, while the "Mickey" figure is currently a "concept", opened to "do more around if there is interest" (Toy-makers/brands: Time to hit up the man!)

I enjoy the notion of a "designer toy" - in this instance borne of "product(ion) design", with a focus on a "character art" base, IMHO. Clean, sleek and a silently stoic companion on the toy-shelves or modern home, for that matter! And appreciating the incorporation of the Mickey-iconology, which helps it cross over to the "pop culture appropriation" genre of "art toys" = FUN!

"The base is a figure I created last year - giving shape to the idea of a couch potato. Also becoming somewhat of a meta theme on us people that enjoy arttoys, watching movies and playing video games to a certain degree :)" - shared Jan Dornig.
