#KeepFighting Urban Street Art "Ad Takeover Project" (#KeepFightingNYC)
"Psyched to contribute to the Keep Fighting NYC Ad Take Over project that is curated by Abe Lincoln Jr. (thanks for having me Abe!) My #KeepFighting poster is now up in NYC (if yer around the city, swing by Grand & Broadway & take a pic!) - thanks to Jennifer Bedard for this shot!" ~ Matthew C. Albanese (@mcaevildesign)
#KeepFighting is a new "Ad Takeover Project" conceived and curated by NYC Street Artist / Agitator and Designer Abe Lincoln Jr. (www / Insta @abelincolnjr), whereby it utilises the spaces used for phone booth ads as a platform for artist's to represent their favorite ### ("hashtags")!
You can view some of the images featured thus far on @keepfightingnyc and hashtag #keepfighting (*which frankly makes for sense with #keepfightingnyc, to go beyond the crowd of similar hashtags, IMHO), which features a mix-bag of street art and social commentary, and I love it!
I am of the age where I remembered using physical phone booths even here in Singapore "back in the day", before they were fully replaced with open wall-hung phones, and as mobile phones envelope civilisation here in our sunny shores ... but then again Singapore does not do well with
Would be hella interesting to see "overseas" representation on the streets of New York City too though! ... Well, there's no specific mention otherwise, soooo.....
And with the advent of online platforms, the actual physical enjoyment of "urban art" should not be just "restricted" to wall murals, so this is uber-cool, IMHO!
What’s an Ad Takeover?: "Ad Takeovers are illegal acts of artistic integrity. We gain access to NYC phone booths and remove the print ads and replace them with art."
The rules of #keepfighting are simple, and you can find out further how you can be a part of it on www.keepfighting.nyc
Rule 1: "We’re curating the submission process, send us a sketch of your design to keepfighting@gmail.com and we’ll let you know if your design has been selected. In the confirmation email we’ll send you the specs of the posters and any other info we need from you."
RULE #2: The hashtag #keepfighting must be prominently placed on the poster so people know it’s a part of the campaign."
