ABOUT THE ARTIST: "Satoru Koizumi born in 1983, graduated from the Okinawa University of the Arts with a master's sculpture course. The artist is famous for the wood carving of children wearing animal costumes. The innocent children's faces in his artworks mean that as we grow older, we tend to lose what we have. The works explore in depth the modern people exploit cuteness into weapons. In his works, Satoru Koizumi wants to show contemporary situation involving anxiety and loneliness that also contradicted the importance of the connection between nature, animals, humans and society."
"The craftsmanship of the artist sculptures uses traditional Japanese tools and the artist personally engraves. The style of the work has a flexible and strong sense of rattan material, showing the beautiful outline of the sculpture. With the development of technology, these precious skills are gradually disappearing. In the creation of woodcarving is a process of psychological change, complex and meaningful. It is not easy for craving technique to achieve a skillful performance. Often the steps to create a defined woodcarving are: first having a creative manuscript and then using ink lines to zoom into the wood, shaved, polished, and colored."
