TOYSREVIL TURNS 15 Today!
My earliest “delve” into the “urban vinyl” scene back in the early 2000s had been one of the more fulfilling aspects of collecting (*Not including collecting 1/6th) not since felt. Shown here are color copy printouts from my EBay seller back in the day, who had added these to my winning bids+purchases, more likely scanned from Hong Kong magazines - like "Milk" and "East Touch" (whom were instrumental in the spread of the genre, I insist) - which both educated me (on what was available), and fueled me in the toy-passion brewing within me then!
And while I am not going to question the "intent" of these pages, what mattered to me was that they helped expose me to the toy-scene (in Hong Kong), and I truly appreciated the effort = all of which helped develop the notion of sharing information with other fellow collectors in me - both old and new - which led to the eventual transition of TOYSREVIL as a personal-weblog (sharing my mundane life and toy-scores at the weekend flea market) to the toyblog you are reading right now.
Come to think of it, it has been nearly "15 years" of me posting "virtual pages" of toys Toys TOYS, hasn't it?
This specific time in 2005, I had posted my first ever blogpost on TOYSREVIL (SWIPE thru below image to read lol), and today in the year 2020, I am celebrating the 15th Anniversary of this blog - THANK YOU FOR READING!
Cheers
Andy TOYSREVIL
BONUS: As you can see from the pages sent to me, my focus were toy-designers Michael Lau and Eric So, and my focus was indeed quite narrow in the "beginning", as seen in the follow image of a "want-list" from my early-days! And yes, I managed to (nearly) complete the list, and more!
