DARK BALTAN: SHADOW CLONE from threezero x Ryu Oyama for April 22/2020 Online Launch
Introducing the DARK BLATAN: SHADOW CLONE Color from Hong Kong-based toy brand Threezero, featuring a translucent blue surface, with this particular edition is a run of only 300pcs, to be available in "select regions". The first 60 pieces will however be made available via Threezero's official Tmall online store (@ threezero.world.tmall.com) on April 22nd!
"The surface of this Dark Baltan is made entirely of translucent blue parts to represent Baltan's ability to create multiple reproductions of itself called ‘Shadow Clones.’" ((*In development / Not final. Promotional images may differ from final version).Featuring an original sculpt by famed Japanese modeller & character sculptor Ryu Oyama, with this apart of "Ultraman Zero: The Chronicle" series - this is not the first release for the 14-inch tall articulated figure, with the DARK BALTAN first unleashed on www.threezerohk.com in mid-November 2019 for pre-orders (Estimated shipping date was: 2nd Quarter 2020).
"For this collaboration, I imagined this Dark Baltan as a "western style suit of armor." The silver clamps, the face, the slits at the mouth, and small holes (probably originally meant for suit actors to look outside) all linked to this idea of a suit of armor. Baltans are life forms more intelligent than humans, so perhaps its true form is more close to humans, or even more simple than that of humans; and thus its form that we know of, such as the cicada-like face and large clamps, could perhaps be something like what we would call a space suit or a battle suit... That was the concept." ~ commented Ryu Oyama.
"Just like how we humans wear clothes in our daily life, Baltans are wearing something like clothes and battle suits. I imagined that this was the reason why there are many variants of Baltans seen in the Ultraman Series which all look slightly different. And in making the sculpt, since it was determined from the beginning to be an articulated figure, in order to have both the design and the articulation to coexist for the elbows and knees, I thought it would be most suited to arrange the design by imagining this as a suit of armor. If it was an un-articulated statue, I would have never come up with this idea, so this Dark Baltan design exists because it was a collaboration with threezero."Featuring 47 Points of Articulation, LED Illuminated Eyes and additional hands/claws, price was USD$298.00 for the Dark Baltan edition (Above display images were from their exhibit at Wonderfest in Japan earlier this year) ... the price for this Shadow Clone Edition however, is as yet revealed.
