#sailormoonredraw : New (Old) Online Art-Challenge
A NEW sketch/art-challenge has emerged online hashtagged "#sailormoonredraw" - which essentially sees folks redraw in their own style / their own interpretation of the single still image (seen below) from the classic SAILOR MOON anime!
A half-back turn, starring back at the viewer(s), with fear in her huge eyes... apparently this started on Japan Twitter (this I cannot authenticate), and has since spread like wildfire, much like most viral sketch-challenges these WFH days, with folks starting to differentiate themselves utilizing variations of stills from the same anime, and even other characters.
I first saw the hashtag on @kuvshinov_ilya (which has her wearing a face-mask FTW), and will attempt to update and credit the SOURCE of this art-challenge's current resurgence - which apparently is an age-old phenom of restyling the iconic look?!
Featured above is a video-clip capture of artwork found on Twitter, while below are the "top nine" found on Instagram today! Credits to their respective artists.
I am somewhat itching to give this a try, but my "weakness" in drawing "women" is a definite downer - which essentially means that my version would either be a gender-bender (*totally doable, as the image is more a upper-torso "portrait" than a full body"), or more likely a robot (*Because "lack of skills" lor MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA)... hhhmmm...
