What Is "LOONA vs DESIGNER TOYS"?
And so I have been posting on my music hobby blog a (ongoing) serial feature titled "LOONA vs DESIGNER TOYS", where I attempt to pairup a member of South Korea girl group LOONA (이달의 소녀) with a "Designer / Art Toy", based on her given ANIMAL.
A variation of my "K/DA VS ART TOYS (VOL.1)"-post back in December 2020, and something which I'd always wanted to indulge in more, crossing over two of my passions: KPOP & TOYS! But the "themes" had to align (in my mind, anyways), and this project perfectly fits the bill.
I had previously started with CHUU (in March 2020), but had left the project uncompleted, until now. With a renewed presentation strategy, I dug deep into TOYSREVIL archives and hunted the toy-world to (re)showcase and show the diversity Toy Culture provided!
I understand I might still be missing tons, but featured here today are my selection thus far, and this is still a on-going project, so expect more to come :)
I am a huge fan of LOONA, and their songs (if my constant posting is not a clue, but tis cool, this is another facet of my personal life y'all might not be here on TOYSREVIL for, cheers :p), and this aspect of their lore has always fascinated me to want to do a dedicated feature such as this.
Featured for this serial posts are very basic introduction(s) to LOONA and it's members. Do feel free to check out these features on TUNESTALKSG to find out more about this South Korean girl group:

But it's okay if you are not into them (would be great, but), but do feel free to stay for the "DESIGNER TOYS" :)
Their Korean name is "이달의 소녀", which directly translates to "Monthly Girl", whereby each of the twelve girls' identities were revealed once at a time (although not at a "Monthly" frequency), along with their very own solo single album and dedicated music video. Starting with the first girl, "HeeJin" in 2016 to "Olivia Hye" in 2018, when all twelve girls where revealed, all of them started to perform together as "LOONA", until now.
Known as "LOONA" in English-speaking and the Western world, the girl group is made up of twelve members, each girl with their own designated ANIMAL, COLOR, MOOD and even COUNTRY - all of which factor into their "lore" (based in the "Loonaverse").
I love a "good story" - even for TOYS, and also for a language that I a lack of understanding for, but for phrases and words heard in KDRAMAs, and any "information" beyond "aesthetics", is always a bonus to me personally.
Also understandable, the chosen collectibles are based primarily on their designated "Animal" given to them by their company BlockBerry Creative (with a few liberties taken, as you will see :p), and colored by their publicly mentioned "likes", but are by no means a deeper delve into their everyday personalities beyond their performances and music video appearances, cheers.
In this latest incarnation, I'd decided to feature Instagrammed-images/slideshow, along with commentary and links to originators of the character creations - which makes for a more fulfilling enterprise, no? Of course in subsequent features I'll be linking them to my blog-features and their creator's socials (so you can seek direct for availability).
And while I've featured each girl and their paired-Designer Toys individually on TUNESTALKSG, I'd debated with myself on HOW to present them on TOYSREVIL, initially planning to go by "sub-units" (*There are three sub-units in the 12-member group), but have since decided to as well feature them INDIVIDUALLY here, along with a feature of the girls themselves, and their music videos et al!
That said, this post you are reading now (Bless You For Reading thus far) will act as a "Declaration of Intent", with a peek into my selection thus far, and I'll continue to countdown to Christmas! And Orbits'll know which music video'll be posted during Christmas ... :)
