Celebrating STAR WARS DAY(s) on TOYSREVIL
Here are some of the top ways I had chosen to celebrate "May The 4th" AKA "Star Wars Day" on the TOYSREVIL-blog thru the years (Also because I have no new SW-toys to show-off, or even a old SW-tee that still fit, so I'd decided to recycle Star Wars-news, cheers :p)
I look back at my Star Wars Day entry from 2009, and of my toy-collection features in 2020 (off my toy-shelf) and indie-produced Star Wars Collectibles featured in 2021, and recognised that I have sadly been not able to add to these collections of any Star Wars-themed releases since. Wished I had something "new" to share for this year's STAR WARS DAY, but ... :p
Listed "#2" in my TOP TEN STAR WARS VIDEOS on TOYSREVIL (from 2019) is this interpretation of "C3PO & R2D2" by South Korean toy designer @chogy23 (circa 2017). I wished I had more similarly-themed indie-toys to make unto slideshow videos, but... there's always splendid customs from Sean Viloria'a custom-Mandalorian+Grogus GROGU THE HUNTER 2.0 and GROGU THE HUNTER to relish...!
Numerous Star Wars-related and inspired toynews has passed these web-pages for the past semi-odd sixteen/seventeen years, and if I had to pick'em, the most memmorable would be THE VADER PROJECT from DKE Toys (What is The VADER PROJECT?), which in essence is the reimagining of the iconic Darth Vader helmet by a splendid line-up of names, that had opened my eyes to both their art and their existence, especially in the early days of blogging for me, where I both interviewed and featured folks who'd gone beyond their own character creations
There had been numerous dedicated "Star Wars Day" celebrations in Singapore ( #STARWARSDAYSG 2016 was another I'd attended), with my most memorable visit being the #CELEBRATETHEFORCE @ SUNTEC CITY in 2015. Personally for me, it's fine and fabulous to see other collections from the collectors grouped together, but I've always been more keen on independently produced art/toyart, with this year's highlight for me being witnessing "Attack on T.I.E.tan" by Pratama Eka Dharma AKA @pedmons, and subsequently being able to see both his and Wetwork's Stormtrooper custom, was a special kind of toy-joy~ Thanks, @yeonardo!
I had been on the list of participating / contributing artists to Topps' STAR WARS GALAXY 4 SKETCH CARDS, which I had a wonderful time interviewing numerous artists for, and as well the opportunity to relish in my Trading card-dreams come true! I've never dared asked if folks had pulled it, much less ion they've kept it, although I had come across online auction listings off-loading my efforts ~ LOL ... Now I cannot for the life of me find my own copy, so at least I could take a quick snap of it now! #facepalm
This listing is left "self-centred" and more in the vein of "participatory artwork" from anyone online willing to be apart of these, which I'd solicited entries for DRAW A JAWA (Started 2012 / Ended 2020), and eventually DRAW A WOOKIE (Started 2013 / Ended 2020), because folks were no longer interested to participate .. understandably so, as I'd no "prizes" to give away, but for providing a "platform" for folks to share their art, AND utilise licensed characters to do so! I certainly wished this would take off, leading to more folks exposing their art ... alas, perhaps my blog was not the draw I imagined it to be :p
DRAW A JAWA Started 2012 / Ended 2020)
DRAW A WOOKIE Started 2013 / Ended 2020)
The all-time ultimate Star Wars-celebration I had the honour to partake in, was to be invited and flown in to Bandung, Indonesia, to specifically cover STAR WARS DAY JAKARTA 2013...! Being immersed in the local community and relishing the unfettered joy is something that will remain within me...! Forever thankful for the opportunity and hospitality...!

May The 4th Be With You All!
