who auditions the watchmen?
"Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" – which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union – is permanently set at five minutes to midnight.
When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion – a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers – Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity... but Who is Watching the Watchmen?" [via]

to be directed by Zack Snyder (who slipped-in a Rorschach-image in 300) - the current casting confirmations are quite an interesting bunch (not like these regulargeriatrics suspects :p) and from Snyder's "faithful" adaptation of Frank Miller's comicbook, one can only hope that the "spirit" (if at least "tone") will be maintained, and not go by way-of-Hollywood, nor like this (*heh*)
THE CURRENT CAST (of Characters):
Matthew Goode as Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias
Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach
Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan (maybe the younger-version, compared to the insert M:I 3-era)
Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl
Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre (Laurie Jupeczyk)
currently there are no confirmed casting for The Comedian ... and ima thinking Burt Reynolds! LOL - but a tad too "mature" ... i reckon this a early-to-mid thirties dude, yeh? *heh*
apparently more will be revealed during SDCC .. meanwhile, i've been spending way too much time mucking about in photoshop to do these images (which i've failed utterly) - worth a cringe or chuckle, i reckon = click at you're own peril ... *heh*
added new:
Casting for The Comedian has been confirmed @ SDCC: Jeffrey Dean Morgan (dying dude in Grey's Anatomy :p)
these are the character-descriptions [via]:
Haley will play Walter Kovacs, aka Rorschach, who ignores the ban on costumed vigilantes.
Crudup will play Dr. Manhattan, a superpowered being with godlike powers and temperament.
Akerman will play Laurie Juspeczyk/the Silk Spectre, who is involved with Dr. Manhattan -- but that relationship begins to fall apart as he becomes more disconnected from humanity.
Goode will play Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias, a costumed adventurer who retired voluntarily, disclosed his identity and built a large fortune. He hatches a plot to avert a global catastrophe he believes will be caused by Dr. Manhattan.
Wilson will play the Nite-Owl, a crime-figher who uses technical wizardry and has an owl-shaped flying vehicle.
Morgan will play the Comedian, a cigar-chomping, gun-toting vigilante-turned-paramilitary agent.
Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Grey's Anatomy") and Malin Akerman will star in the Warner Bros. movie, which Zack Snyder is directing. Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin and Deborah Snyder are producing.
