MOVIES has always been a big part of my life, from enjoying it in the darkened theatre halls (or as I tell my film-students, being "brainwashed" for the duration of the feature :p), to designing and working behind-the-scenes on local features ... and tho I may have left the "dayjob" (for which I've lived, breathed and bled over a decade's worth of) behind, the experience resonates still ... of the various parts and different components involved to make a feature project, be it a good film or lacklustre-one, most times without due credit, in lieu of the "top of the line/foodchain" titles (ie: Director, Actor, Producer, Director of Photography etc) ... one of which is MUSIC.

MUSIC had served as both inspiration (I used to have a piece of dedicated genre-of-music or particular song attached to every job I've done LOL) and as a story-teller, motivator of a celluloid-experience - be it the soundtrack, or even a theme-song - which most times may not be given the due credit, for helping the filmmakers achieve the aim of manipulating your emotions, to feel what the film-characters feel, for when the celluloid-situation unfolds, a story meant to affect us in any and every way (ie: "brainwashing" LOL) ... sometimes the music/song outlasts the films they were in (ie: the movie sucked LOL), sometimes a tune is all that one remembers from "that time in the cinema", and sometimes a particular song is synonymous with a feature ... the soundscape varies, as does the emotions that comes with them - and that alone is an experience worth remembering (again), IMHO.

... next week, perhaps I'd delve into soundscapes and scores :)
