bic plastics @ vinyl toy network 2008

BIC Plastics unleashed an all-out onslaught of their toys at the recently concluded Vinyl Toy Network @ Pasadena Convention Center Dec 6-7th 2008 - along with a vinyl toy-superstar line-up consisting of Marka27, MAD, KaNO and David Flores with the launch of their respective toys - namely: KiLLA INSTINCT, SHAM Da Clown, BODEGA and SKETCHARTIS. On hand also were the duo behind Blokhedz and the GID Killa Instinct-edition. Courtesy of Victor Marka, we have some select snaps of the event to share, as well as a wee Q&A to go along with them :)

TOYSREVIL: If im not wrong, this is BIC Plastics first group "coming out" event @ VTN, innit? How does it feel and how was the reception to BIC products?

VICTOR MARKA: This was BIC PLASTICS first launch. The company is really dedicated to getting the artist point of view accross. I know with Kano, Mad, and myself we were all very pleased with the quality of the final outcome of our toys. They also did a great job bringing each artist vision / design to life without compromising the artist's vision.

TOYSREVIL: Good to hear, and even better for fans and collectors, IMHO. How was VTN to you folks (individually and as BIC) and what do you think of the event itself.

VICTOR MARKA: I think VTN was a big success. I can speak for the artists at the BIC booth by saying we all had a real good time. It's always good to meet collectors and other artists that you admire in person and put a face to a name. Kano, David Flores, Mad, Jesse Hernandez, MadTwinz creators of Blokhedz and myself were flooded with people lookng for sketches and wanting to get a new BIC toy signed or a toy of ours that's already in their collecton signed.

TOYSREVIL: For the BIC Plastic-exclusives, I know some are now made available at 3D-Retro, but will they also be made available at BIC Plastic's online shop?

VICTOR MARKA: At the moment that is all being worked out with BIC and 3D Retro but I'm sure eventually the BIC PLASTICS website will have some new goodies available.

TOYSREVIL: (I spy a little "something" in them pictures...) Was there anything specific on-show / display that had not been hyped up on the www? That folks wouldn't not have known until they were there? Basically, what did folks miss?

VICTOR MARKA: Yeah we had "Vinyl Attack" a new toy by Nicolas LESAFFRE. We had it there mainly for people to check out and get a response from. I think it may have been overwhelming for people to really get a feel for Vinyl Attack with so much going on, and so many releases. There also hasn't been much promotion for Vinyl Attack other than that really cool short film by Nicolas LESAFFRE.

VINYLS-ATTACK

TOYSREVIL: I personally am itching to embed that movie unto my blog since I saw it (but alas...). With the End of 2008 approaching lightning-fast, what's up next for 2009? What should fans be looking out for? And what / why should folks check out BIC Plastics if they don't know about BIC in the first place!

VICTOR MARKA: If you don't know about BIC PLASTICS then your really missing out! In a market filled these days with borderline mass market toys, BIC has stepped in the Designer Vinyl Arena to bring collectors top noch quality with unique and talented artist in there line up.

You get your dollars worth pound for pound. I collect myself and my attitude has always been I'd rather have a small amazing collection then a huge mediocre one.

As for 2009 look out for more vinyl madness from BIC PLASTICS!! We have projects in the works as we speak.
