Introducing FELIX by Robot Soda x Ledy Ledy
Peep Tijuana-based illustrator; JC Arenas aka Robot Soda's first solo toy named FELIX ~ the urban vinyl bear with a blissful-smile (becoz he's a drunk bear who visits strip bars)!
Felix stands 5 inches tall (13cm) and is 100% produced in México under their own toy label Ledy Ledy, and will come in 2 colorway editions: Gold-on-Black (shown above) and White-on-Blue (not shown as yet) - both in a limited edition of 100-pcs per colorway.
The product is currently awaiting completion, including it's packaging / box art, with no determined drop-date nor price as yet. Do stay tuned to TRE to keep you folks up-to-speed with it's developments! Meanwhile, CLICK THRU for a little Q&A I had with JC and for more pix of Felix!
TOYSREVIL: Who is Felix? What's his story?
ROBOT SODA: Felix is a fat bear who went into hibernation one winter ... upon waking up he discovered that the city had swallowed the forest, so he now lives amongst humans ~ which have resulted in some terrible hobbies like heavy drinking, strip bars etc. ... so don't be fooled by his smile he's actually very very drunk!
TOYSREVIL: And what a blissful-smile he has too! LOL ~ How big is Felix? (In toy and "real life" :p)
ROBOT SODA: In toy form he's 5 inches or 13 cm ... in real life he's pretty big, I mean he's bear!
TOYSREVIL: Watch out for falling drunk bear! How long has the project been in development? And what's the current status?
ROBOT SODA: It's been almost a year since I started working on him, the plastic is done, and we are currently doing the decoration and box art. It should come out during the next few months.
TOYSREVIL: How many more Felixs' in the vinyl-family? Are there any plans for DIY Blank-Felix?
ROBOT SODA: It's limited edition of 100 in each colourway including Gold on Black and White on Blue. As for other characters in the same universe, not for the moment. No blank for the time being, unless people ask for one in the future...
[Above shows production-line WIP-sculpts / the Grey is the prototype]
TOYSREVIL: Here's hoping there will be more (So folks, go buy out every Felix so they can start making new ones! LOL). How can fans "adopt" a Felix for themselves?
ROBOT SODA: People will be able to get him from our online store. Although our store currently ships only domestic, but we are working on shipping to the US, and hopefully we'll have US-distribution up and running as well to make things easier.
TOYSREVIL: Do keep us updated when that happens, JC! Thanks for your time, and before we sign off ~ do share with TRE-readers ~ Who is Robotsoda? And who is Ledy Ledy?
ROBOT SODA: I'm an illustrator from Tijuana, I do mostly character design and have collected toys for many years.
Ledy Ledy is a design collective, with the 3 members being; Mr. Kone, Julio Carrasco of Studio Zoveck and myself JC Arenas aka RobotSoda. We are focused on doing limited edition products including t-shirts, prints and vinyl toys.
