Vintage Marshall In Singapore
"VINTAGE" MARSHALL had arrived in Singapore safely a whiles' back, and unfortunately have been all cooped in the dank dusky grotto secret lair of TOYSREVIL (aka my room). One day Marshall will get to breathe clear(er) air and enjoy the sights of Singapore. Meanwhile you can read-up on WHO Marshall is here, as well as CLICK THRU for snaps of Marshall & some TRE-Impressions of the toy :)
MARSHALL is designed by 64Colors and is produced by Squibbles Ink x Rotofugi. This special release "Vintage" Marshall is limited to 500 pieces and is currently available @ Rotofugi for US$12.95 per 3.5 inches of adorableness. (Thanks for the lurve, Eric!)
MARSHALL IN SG (Part One):
TRE-IMPRESSIONS: Marshall is currently articulated at the neck-region, with the ability to swivel / turn left or right. The lack of articulation is more than made up with the adorable nature and design of the figure, IMHO. The figure form makes one want to cuddle and care for the lil tyke - whether this be the intention of the design, or just a figment of my wild imagination, it matters naught, really. Who could resist those stubby-arms? heh.
The "Vintage" Marshall is so named because of the cream-colored surface of the vinyl figure - giving it an air of nostalgia, like an icon from an old (Eastern) advertisement - which is also the hallmark of 64Colors' design iconography. Pretty apt first release, I must say. I'm personally liking the feel of the figure's matt surface - which reminds me of dust-covers for books (forgive me my limitations in toy-production language). *Noice*
The color print and application on the figure is pretty darn good, with spot glossy-ish colors on the matt cream body. Am amazed at the print on the figure's feets (image not shown here :p) whereby the fine text is very nicely printed and crisp-clear.
A slight downside to the figure - and I'm not too sure if it is because of the humidity in Singapore - but his head's slightly getting warped and out of shape. Specifially the top of Marshall's "head" - where it is not totally "flat" (at point of picture-snapping). Will keep track of the developments further before I provide a tangible conclusive review, to be fair, of course. Hope nobody sat on him while I wasn't looking tho - ya'know toys are pretty jealous of each other too, yeh? (*cough*)
I had asked Eric of 64Colors to autograph my Marshall, and what I got was an "Evil Bum" ... I LURVES IT! LOL - Check out Marshall on his own dedicated website @ marshalltoys.com and join up Marshall on his flickr-pool and contribute to the fun!
This is by no means the last of Marshall you shall see, for the rest of his marshamellow-brethren will be making their blind-boxed presence soon-ish! Stay Tuned for more Marshall-updates!
