nvc crew's cny customed lion-dance labbit and dunnys
the NVC Crew shares with us an auspicious custom-set which celebrates the Chinese New Year, with a lethally-lucky concoction of pop-culture, kungfu and tradition, with a Wong Fei Hung-themed Dunny, a Big-headed-Doll Dunny and a 5"-er customed Lion Dance Labbit!
*mondo-more images after the jump*
according to Dr.Bao, they started on the Labbit September last, with the initial intention as a wedding present for a good friend, but changed their minds to keep it for another project! (of coz they gave her another custom prezzie LOL) and that project became one to celebrate the chinese lunar new year with the customed figures you see on this page now :)
the Wong Fei Hung (黃飛鴻) X Lion Dance concept is based on the Once Upon A Time in China movies-series (easily Jet Li's finest celluloid offerings of all time) - specifically Part 3, where there's a massive lion-dance kungfu-face-off! *kungfu-kewlness*
for sure, it was no easy task - as Dr.Bao mentions, three kinds of materials were used and it took 3 times as much to redo the puffy furs, gluing and ungluing, until it achieved the form they were looking for :p ... the diorama was scratch-built, symbolizing "gateways", mayhap an auspicious entry to a brand new year? :)
all in all, a memorable new year and a sweet cap to NVC Crew's prosperous and productive custom year so far! my thanks to Dr.Bao for sharing these images and i'll take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and wealthy Chinese New Year!
