Drunk Frog In Bear Suit celebrates St.Patrick's Day on Saturday 17th March
with TNES X Kidrobot's Toy Release Party @ Nacional, in Hollywood [map]:
when i first saw the TNES X Kidrobot's Drunk Frog In Bear Suit 7"-er tall vinyl figure
[available online here], i couldn't stop smiling at it! it was simply hilarious to look at this frog, obviously pissed-drunk, kicking it in a bear suit! (i wonder what song he's singing and what's he's drinking tho :p)
thoroughly intrigued by it's origins, i managed to bug TNES (designer of Frog In Bear Suit) for it's story and evolution ...

TOYSREVIL: who was the designer for this figure?
TNES: The designer of the figure is TNES. He is the owner/lead designer for HIPPOE.
TRE: dude, i haveta ask, how did the Frog In Bear Suit-design came about?
TNES: The basis for this design is interesting... A lot of people thought it was Kermit in Fozzy's fur, but here's the real story = TNES has a close friend named B-boy Rubix. Rubix was also called "Kuma-chan" which translates as a "cute bear" by a lot of our Japanese homegirls. Rubix loooooves to drink 40's and whenever he gets plastered, he looks like a frog! So TNES put them together and the Drunk Frog was born!
TRE: LOL (wish i had a picture of da dude :p) will this product be available on your (HIPPOE) website as well, besides Kidrobot?
TNES: Since it's limited to 300 pieces worldwide, TNES will be putting up only 5 figures that will be signed and filled w/ some extra goodies. The price is TBD.
TRE: you had me at "extra goodies" LOL - are there any further plans for additional colorways or variants of Frog In Bear Suit?
TNES: We were originally supposed to have 2 versions of this toy. The second version was gonna be called "Super Drunk Frog in Bear Suit" Prototypes were made, but Kidrobot checked they're production schedule and realized that they wouldn't be able to make it. The second version sported darker fur and a purple face with X'd out eyes.We have screenshots of it, but will have to get clearance before putting them out
TRE: and here we have images of the hilarious Super Drunk Frog, turning totally purple and googly-eyed! LOL
TRE: are there are additional toys coming out from HIPPOE any time soon?
TNES: As of now, there is none. TNES is playing around with some Dunny, Trexi, and Qee templates as we speak. HIPPOE has a lot of outrageous and cool characters that should be made into vinyl figures... keep your fingers crossed haha.
