about battlestar galactica season 2.5

and there i was, holding my breath in trepidation to find out if Commander Adama survived the assassination by the Sharon-Cylon, and WTF Baltar and Six were looking at in the baby crib, on Cobol, in Season 1's cliffhanger ... yes, i succumbed. i dug deep into my pathetic finances and decided that i could do without eating-out and toys for the next month (or two) ... and thusly trudged home with a Battlestar Galactica Season 2.5 box-set (BSG-fans might know where this is heading ... ;p)

*more of my whinging, after the JUMP*

all psyched-up and i gently let my finger press "PLAY"... and of coz the intro flashback sequences left me quite confused. have i missed out a disc? was there a faulty DVD pressing? why is Sharon is a holding cell? did Helo get back on Galactica safely? how? why is there a Battlestar Pegasus and who the frak is Admiral Kaine?

FLASHBACK SEQUENCE 01
standing in the middle of the DVD-store aisle, earlier in the afternoon, holding the (extremely expensive dammit) BSG-boxsets in both my hands, on the left was BSG Season 2.0 and on-right, Season 2.5 ... and ima thinking ...

VS

FURTHER FLASHBACK SEQUENCE 01.5
... i remember the good old days, when One was ONE, and Two, was literally TWO. part 2 follows after part 1, so on, so forth ... then came the age of "one-point-fives", "X-MEN 1.5", "SPIDERMAN 2.5" - which literally meant, a further "enhanced" version of the original prior - filled with more goodies, previously unseen behind-the-scenes yaddayaddayadda (im a sucker for such crap lah) ....

FASTFOWARD TO FLASHBACK SEQUENCE 01
...sssoooo BSG 2.5 would mean BSG Season 2 - repackaged to squeeze more money out of us fanboys more goodies and deleted scenes yaddayaddayadda, right? and i surely need a distraction from the current stressful+hectic days i've been experiencing ... and that BSG would end at Season 4 (i like definitive endings sometimes - you know when it'll stop, so you can play your actions/purchases) - so leftie proceeded to put BSG 2.0 back on the shelf and BSG2.5 clutched tightly on my right, and the slow-mo triumphant walk toward the cashier counter was an Academy-award-worthy moment ...

FASTFORWARD TO DVD PLAYING ON THE TELLY:
so Adama salutes Admiral Kaine and there's hugs all around the hangar bay ... and im wondering: did Kara bring back the Arrow of Apollo? ~ PRESS PAUSE ~

... got online and wiki-ed BSG and this is what i found:
Following the success of the 13-episode season one, the Sci Fi Channel ordered a full 20-episode second season on February 9, 2005 ... In the Fall of 2005, airing of the second season halted as it was part of Sci-Fi Channel's standard airing schedule normally used for its Stargate series, which was to split a 20-episode season into two parts (a "winter season" and a "summer season", to avoid heavy competition with major networks that follow a spring / fall schedule). Universal Home Video took this break as an opportunity to package the episodes aired thus far into a DVD set, calling it Season 2.0. The final episode of the first half, "Pegasus," was originally 15 minutes too long for broadcast, but according to creator Ronald Moore, the production team decided to cut the episode to time rather than pad it out to fill 90 minutes, as this was deemed impractical. The longer version of "Pegasus" appears on the Battlestar Galactica Season 2.5 DVD set [wiki]
*sigh*

so now i have to spend even more money to get 2.0, to be able to enjoy 2.5? *FRAK ME* ... (but of coz it didn't stop me from finishing the first disc dammit)

tis literally like reading a comicbook and missing out on a coupla issues in-between the big slugfest, the last thing you reading being the cliffhanger where the heroes are at each others' throats ... and the next issue, everyone is saundering down by the pub, talking about the good old days = WTF?

fine, im an idiot. and i wanted to share my grief. okay, back to watching paint dry ... *sigh*
