about that letoy parachute boy

for a while now, Madrid-based LE TOY has been inviting artists from different fields to recreate their logo (the parachute boy, from their blog) with their own interpretation; be it a character illustration, collage, plushes, animations or toys ... with the intention to publish a mini-book with all the best works. the dead-line was to be 15th Sept 2007. the full collection can be viewed on their flickr-album (*truly eye-popping selection of works*) ... the videoclip shown-above is an animated submission from Pattern (makers of Viktor-plush)

i had a (long-overdue) quick chat with both Roberto & Oscar LeToy for the lowdown on the project, upcoming surprises and a deadline-extension! /// CLICK HERE TO READ

TOYSREVIL: sorry i missed the submission deadline! - is there an extension? (to be included in the mini-book) or can people still submit?

LETOY: We are already publishing the last submissions on our blog but we can make an exception for your readers if any of them may be interested. They can email us to hidroboys@gmail.com until mid-October.

TRE: you guys are awesome! (okay folks - be sure to say TOYSREVIL sent ya, yeh? *heh*) - how is the status of the project so far? too many good works to be printed? how thick is this mini-book going to get! :)

LETOY: Absolutely loads, we´ve received tons of submissions and the quality of them all is highly impressive. Get ready for a huge coffe table book!! Well, honestly, we´d love all the works to be included in the book but we are afraid it won´t be possible and a selection will be done in order to appear on the book.

TRE: there's always "Volume 2"? LOL - what will happen to the mini-book when it is compiled & printed? will it be available online for purchase? and is there a release-date set?

LETOY: Of course the book will be available online for purchase and we also want to do something special in an art-gallery in Madrid when the book is done. We still have no release-dates as yet as we are still receiving submissions but we promise it will be in a few months.

TRE: do keep us posted, yeh? how did the idea come about?

LETOY: We wanted to give a chance to some of our readers and friends to be a part of letoy and we came up with the idea of re-creating Letoy! We happened to think that it would be cool to do something like that, and very soon you'll see the results in the shape of a fantastic book about our cute parachute boy.

TRE: no doubt you folks are very happy with the results, yeh? what's next for letoy?

LETOY: Indeed we are, even better than what we first could expect!

We are working on our first Letoy plush collection (a sample of it called Love Letoy is actually on a show in Barcelona) which will be release soon, a very special exhibition together with our friends Eloole and something we can´t give away yet in Poland.

TOYSREVIL: again, do keep us updated, please :) ... cheers for your time and trouble, gentlemen! in closing, please do share with us, WHO IS LE TOY?
