DISTRICT 9 Teaser Trailer
The Neil Blomkamp-directed and Peter Jackson-produced DISTRICT 9 [IMDB / D-9.com] Official Teaser Trailer has hit the www and can be viewed in various QT-sizes and HD directly on Apple.com/trailers. I really wish there were higher-res embeds, but check this out nevertheless:
I love it that it has taken on a documentary-style narrative (at least in the trailer and earlier incarnations / Detailed TRE write-up here) with less of the focus on the "design" of the Alien - of which no doubt would be something folks can grab unto and connect with, in this fast paced wwworld, but perhaps more on the "message" (what that message may be, to me, will guide the film, IMHO). The question now being; would this feature film project succeed in the future with the current subtle subversive promotion and vibe? Especially with it's latent seriousness seeping thru, awaiting cerebral-explosion?
CLICK THRU for select screengrabs :)
This is without a doubt, one of the movies I will personally be looking forward to viewing, when it launches August 14th 2009. A huge part of me wishes DISTRICT 9 would have a booth / space at the Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention [happening 13th-16th August / tagged] to promote the film. I have some ideas - drop me a PM if you can help make it happen :)

[Multi-National United / MMU Peace-keeping Force? Or Mercenary Soldiers? 1/6-Kitbash-time, folks!]
[Alien spaceships stranded on Earth, left floating in the skies]
[The alien inhabitants take up shelter on Earth-ground, and gets
treated like less-than-human. Very "Arpartide" in vibe, IMHO.]
[The mosaic of visual-features is very "Documentary"-style, not revealing the interviewee's identity]
[Cool because it is less about the Alien's "design" than it is about the film's "message", IMHO]
