CUSTARD4GRAVY-PRINTS

In my sojourn hospital-stay last year, I had inadvertedly missed out on reporting Andy Mitchellaka Custard4Gravy's first solo exhibition at Electric Angel Gallery in UK (apologies, my good man :p). And with that show came a whole slew of prints currently available online for sale here. Go get your fix, go!

BLAMO-BUNNY-SUITS

To celebrate the overhaul of Blamotoys.com, a couple of new announcements are in effect. One of them is well suited for this particular Roundup: "The Bunny Onesie" - which essentially is a bunny suit meant for his and hers.

"That's right, now you too can dress up and parade around like your favorite Blamoville characters in these super warm, super comfortable rabbit jumpsuits.  Each onesie comes with metal wire lined rabbit ears that allow the wearer styling and molding possibilities. And what bunny suit would be complete without its own fluffy bunny tail on the butt? These unisex onisies come in 3 different colors of cotton, as well as a limited "Moto-Rabbit" gray canvas jumpsuit, all of which are currently available through blamotoys.com."

So what's the other announcement? Check out this Weekend's Roundup post here :)

TOYTOWN

Something that took surprisingly long to have been produced (IMHO) is "TOY TOWN" - a book of toys stories of the Hong Kong industry - as told by veteran Hong Kong toymakers and international “toy biz” insiders. "They recall Hong Kong’s Herculean efforts to overtake Germany then Japan in toy exporting, to overcome Western prejudice and protectionism against toys from “the Orient” and to achieve a hard-earned reputation for reliability, quality and product safety. They tell the stories behind the stories of iconic toys, from Barbie to her European rival Sindy to G.I Joe, Matchbox cars, Cabbage Patch Kids and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Check out www.toytownthebook.com for more, and lookout for a table outside room 1C02 at the American international Toy Fair at the Javits Center in NY, NY, February 13th-16th - to see them on display. Tell'em TOYSREVIL sent ya! - As well, the first 100 folks to "LIKE" their Facebook page will apparently receive a free E-Version.

"The story began some 60 years ago with a few entrepreneurs, most of them refugees from upheavals in China, struggling to survive in beleaguered Hong Kong. Through trial and error they learned to make toys from plastics, the wonder material of the post-war era. As baby populations boomed, Hong Kong’s canny toy manufactures partnered with Western traders and overseas toy companies to secure export orders. Together, they turned tiny Hong Kong into the world’s largest you exporter. It became Toy Town."

SPONGEBOB-SQUAREPANTS-02

UK-designer Ben The Illustrator mentioned: "To celebrate SpongeBob Squarepants' 10th anniversary I worked alongside The Gild to re-design and re-brand the SpongeBob style for Nickelodeon/MTV's global style guide.  It was an ideas frenzy! Playing with all manner of creative areas including street art, psychedelia and Vegas fashion." [via]

Members of Periscope Studio decided to pay homage to the films of anime master Hayo Miyazaki, and these are the resulting visuals. Have always wondered the Western take on Eastern animation, IMHO, More full-images can be see on MovieFone.com.
